My first real DIY.

Well, I've been intrigued by DIY for a while, so this month I decided that instead of buying vendor juice, I'd pick up some DIY supplies, so I ordered a bunch of stuff from DIY-ejuice.com, who are really good to deal with; I like one-stop-shops.

It arrived today, and I immediately fired up Ejuicemeup and started tinkering.

The flavours I ordered, in no particular order:

Key Lime (conc.)
Blackberry (conc.)
Raspberry (conc.)
Peach (conc.)
RY4 (conc.)
Dunhill (conc.)
Graham Cracker (Capella's)
Marshmallow (TPA)

I also got some additives:

Menthol (TPA)
Ethyl Maltol
Sour (TPA); If I understand correctly, it's a 20% solution of malic acid.

I also picked up some 48 mg nic (100ml, PG) and some syringes and bottles and things too.

---

So, I've made four simple juices so far today, and here are my first impressions. All I mixed at a roughly 70/30 PG/VG blend, and were sampled on a 2.5 ohm 510 bridgless atty on my Lavatube set at 4.5 volts.

Here they are, in the order I made them:

RY4 (12mg) - This was a concentrated flavour, so I stuck with the recommendation of 2.5%. Glad I picked up that 1ml syringe.

Anyway, this one struck me as really sweet, with a few odd notes in there. I don't know if it's the tobacco base, or the alcohol the flavour was dissolved in, or what. I can taste a tobacco-y sort of note to it, and some sort of caramel. Not too much vanilla as of yet. As I said, a pretty sweet tobacco. Not bad, but I'm going to let this one steep for a while and see how it matures.

I mistakenly didn't alter the default nic strength in Ejuicemeup (I wanted 18mg) but I didn't realize this until I reviewed my recipe later. Turns out 12mg was enough for this one. Good throat hit, good vapour production. I'm anxious to see how this one changes over time.

Key Lime (18mg)
- This was the one I tried next. Also concentrated, but I'd read that the fruit flavours need a little more presence, so I mixed it in at 3%. While good, this could've probably gone to 4%. Next time, I guess.

This one really impressed me, even though it was a little light on flavour. It's a very fresh, crisp lime; not a candy lime at all. Very refreshing. I can see this going well with other things. Vapour was good as well, and quite strong in the throat hit department, probably because of the extra nic.

Menthol (12mg) - This one was really simple to make. Nic, PG, VG to almost 5ml, and a drop of menthol. Very clean, very smooth. This is the first menthol vape I've tried, and I was getting a nice cooling sensation, with some good menthol flavour.

DIY-Ejuice.com recommends 1-2 drops per 30ml to bring forth a menthol flavour, and I think one drop per 5ml is good for a nice bold menthol. Vapour is good; throat hit is a little weaker in this, but I've heard menthols tend to lack in that department.

Dunhill (12mg) - Mixed this one in at 2%, just to see if that made much of a difference compared to the RY4. I'm glad I didn't go any higher; this is a strong flavour. It's not like any other tobacco I've tried. I'm getting predominantly chocolate in the flavour, with tobacco kinda hanging around in the background. It's an earthy, sweet flavour, with maybe a hint of smokiness in there too. Another one I'm going to let steep for a while before revisiting. It's good, but I think it could be better.

Vapour and throat hit are about on par with the RY4 I mixed up. A good thump.

That's all I've tried making so far. I don't know what DIY-Ejuice does with their nic to give it extra throat hit (I normally vape between 18 and 24 mg), but it'll stretch my juice dollar even farther. I'm not complaining at all.

Depending on how the Dunhill and RY4 mature, I'm going to try a couple of fruit-tobacco blends next. Actually, from how the blackberry smells, I can see it marrying well with the Dunhill.

Well, that's all for now.
