Moved from Atomizers & Cartridges forum to Clearomizers forum
The "rubbery stuff" I'm guessing is the silicone seals. If so they should hold up just fine, but a rinse under a hot tap will probably do the cleaning job just as well. The seals in most clearomizers will stain over time (the silicone will actually yellow a bit even if not exposed to juice) and you likely won't be able to bring them back to their like-new whitish color anymore.
Boiling might be extreme just in case you get them too hot and misshape the grommet. Hot water with a little dish soap and an old tooth brush work well but just like DW said above, you'll never get the "out of the box" white back.
