I've seen this advertised recently, but I remain skpeptical. The eliquid is made by SQN (makers of The REAL) and they are saying the nic comes from a "100% tobacco free" source. The prices are normal which is why I am skeptical (I'd imagine this nic would be quite costly, but I don't really know).

Is this a game of semantics or is it some manner of synthetic nic or from an alternative source? Thoughts??

"NKTR is the very first 100% Tobacco Free Nicotine (TFN) e-liquid line. TFN is virtually odorless and tasteless, providing a purer flavor profile for complex and layered e-liquids that will elevate your vaping experience.Note: Only available in 30mL bottles. Nicotine levels available: 0, 3, 6 mg."

[Edit: Removed per OP's request.]

NKTR (Vape Street)
NKTR (Vape Rev)

What might this mean for our industry if this becomes available to all?

Nicotine can be taken from many sources. All the nightshade family of plants have it, that includes tobacco, but also tomatoes, potatoes & many others. Along those same lines caffeine has much the same effects when inhaled, so there are other alternatives to using tobacco nic.

If it's pure nicotine the source wont matter flavor wise. It might help prevent the argument that it's a tobacco product though by the government tobacco Natzis :)

I knew this, but for so long it had only been a pipe dream due to the costs to extract it from the other sources (not being a high enough content).

My thinking too.

SmokeyJoe posted recently that nic has been synthesized at a reasonable cost.

After a search for @SmokeyJoe and the word "Synthetic", I found a couple early posts (one of which, from 2009, that said basically some of what I said in my OP) and then the one I was looking for, here: https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/f...ust-eat-fruit-veg.706411/page-3#post-16690886 Wow. This can be nothing short of a good thing! I gotta try it.

So I guess the answer to my OP is, ....!!!

A nice thought. A non-tobacco derived nicotine would in fact cut the only -plausible- link between vaping and tobacco. Common sense would dictate labeling something as a tobacco product (to justify regulating/taxing it) would require it have -some- remote connection to tobacco, but "common sense and government" go together like "oil and water". Unfortunately, the real issue has nothing to do with health or safety it's all about corporate profits and tax revenues.

The government's assault on vaping will not be slowed or stopped by something as ~trivial~ as common sense or facts. In truth we are simply, involuntarily, playing the great game of capitalism. It's the fourth quarter and the score is "BT and big pharma" 100, "vapers" 1. Let's look at the players; on BT and big pharma's team we have the best "government" money can buy who, in addition to appeasing their big $$$ contributors, see massive revenue potential from a new tax source (Cha-Ching!), a win-win for all who matter. Also on their team is most of the "free" press which routinely prints/reports the government's position verbatim no matter how preposterous that propaganda might be. On our side we have....us. The referee for the match is the general public who wholeheartedly believes anything and everything the government/media tells them. Hmmm.... I wouldn't get my hopes up, besides if we did manage to win what would happen to the millions of innocent children who will use vaping as a "stepping stone" to smoking? (eye roll). ;)

As sad as it is, I guess the point is made the most evident in zero nic liquids still being considered a tobacco product, so to think that a synthetic nicotine would be viewed differently probably is wishful thinking--but I have to have that type of thinking, even if for no other reason than giving me a reason to push forward. If it's no use, what's the use?

Ordered some NKTR (the Mango) just so I can see for myself what's up.
In the interests of SCIENCE, I ordered a bottle of guava 6mg.

What might this mean for our industry if this becomes available to all?

Personally I don't think it'll matter one iota from a regulatory standpoint in regards to making things better for us. Technically though, if synthesized nicotine could be produced cheaper than extracted, cheaper's good.

Cursory websearches didn't reveal the source for this synthesized nicotine. It would be cool if it was domestic.

This reminds me of the old saying," A day late and a dollar short". After reading the proposed
deeming regulations and witnessing the legislation recently passed in Indiana and Arkansas I
have have come to the conclusion that any thing that takes the place of smoking cigarettes
can and if need be, be considered a tobacco product nicotine or not.

Interesting. I'll have to see the outcome on this. Nice find man.

When I first saw this, I thought of you and your quest for clean nic. It would be awesome if this does find its way into the DIY market and it shakes out to be what its claimed to be--clean, tasteless and great for mixes.
