Well, it's been 1 full year now of using a Reo Grand product. Buying a Reo was the BEST decision I made in the vaping world, and very glad I chose to give it a try. My Copper Vein (Chewbacca) still roars like a Wookie, and vapes like a freight train!!

The 1 year anniversary was Tuesday, but I was so busy working that I didn't have to even realize it. I did have a gratifying experience though that made me realize it.

While on a "smoke" break at work (Tuesday), I was sitting at a table using my Reo Grand. This cute chic sat down beside me. She was using some metal box with a DNA board, and a big dripper on top. She sat it on the table, and then sat a 30ml glass bottle of juice beside it. She began to tie her shoe, and as I noticed this concoction on the table... the conversation began.

She built her own Clapton coil and was vaping dual coils at .2 ohms. We talked about the safety of that, and of couse... I showed her Chewie. Talked to her about the concept of Squonking. Informed her that she could do low builds like .2 builds on the Reo, and of course, could use many different dual coil atomizers like the Derringer, Rogue, and etc as well. She even held my Reo and looked at it.

As we talked, I noticed rain clouds gathering on this 90 degree hot day. Many concerns flooded my thoughts. I had to mention the BEST part of using a Reo was not having to worry about electronic boards going out! She was very interested in that part (since it was about to pour down rain), and wanted to know where to get one. She mentioned a time that she accidentally dropped her box (didn't even want to know what it was that she was using), and worried if the drop damaged it. I told her of course about where to get the Reo Grand (Reosmods.com), and mentioned Russ's abuse video. :) She was very interested in the mechanical 'bottom squonker', and said she would look into it.

As she rushed off back to her job... I sat there with a very happy, content feeling. As I vaped ole, reliable Chewbacca, I thought about many " What IF" possibilities that could quickly become a reality.
What IF...
  • It Rained, and she had it in her hand as she going to her car? Water would get in it.
  • Sweat and perspiration from her hands ran down the button cracks, and got on the boards and electronic parts?
  • She left it in her car all day in 90 degree heat?
  • She left it in her call all day on a cold, snowy day with freezing temperatures?
  • She dropped it off the smoking area loading dock - onto the concrete?
  • A glass of water was spilled, and it sat in a pool of water?
...list goes on.

All the above is something Reo Grand users don't have to worry about since it has no boards or electronic parts. We have other things in life to deal with, and it's a HUGE RELIEF to not have to worry about those scenarios!

Anyway, thank you ModFather for making the Reo Grand. The reliability, dependability, and confidence of it working when you need it too ...is well worth $160.

Now, if I could just control this Reo'itis condition. Although Han Solo and Chewbacca keep me going, I'm still wondering if Boba Fett (Metallic Blue / Black door) is gonna come looking for them, or Greedo (Kawasaki Green) will visit Solo in the bar. Perhaps Princess Leia (Solid White) should be with Solo. What if Vader (Black SL/LP); Troopers (White SL/LP / Black door) and the Emporer (Metallic Red SL/LP) bagan to battle our Rebels? :p
..........awwww, see how Reo'itis works on people. :)

Great story and Reo promo Ed.

I was going to suggest that you add to the "what if list" showing your XXX to her , but you beat me to it.

8/20 will be the 1 year anniversary of receiving my first Reo, a used Mini 2.1 CV off the classifieds that came with a brass RM2. About 3-4 hours after it got here, set it up and vaped it I ordered a second new one from Rob. Know all about Reoitis too... 24 of them have been bought in less than a year (by 7/14) . ;)

I'd not leave a Reo with a battery in it in a car in 90f+ either.

I'd also be a bit cautious about 0.2Ω coils in one (even i don't go under 0.3Ω), unless you like cleaning them. Nevertheless, congrats on one year, they are very reliable!

SupT, even she took the battery inside the 65 degree cool building with her, and left the Mod in her car.... would the DNA board and other electronic parts in that Mod survive the heat? We know cars get very hot inside with windows rolled up. We know they get up to 110 degrees, and sitting in heat like that all day would likely have caused the boards/electronic parts to malfunction or go out.

Flip the page to a very cold day of 5 degrees. Would DNA boards and electronic parts survive IF left in a cold car all day?

Since a Reo Grand has no electronic boards inside, it would definitely survive both scenarios. We never have to worry about situations like that. :)

Congrats of your 1 year as well. Yep, I remember you buying them all up, and keeping us in suspense if there would even be any left to buy. I kept asking what you were doing out there in Sin City to buy them all. Even offered to come be apart of the fun. HAHA!! :) All your Reos have a place, and we all know you love them. But if one ever needs to leave Sin City, let him come to Tenn. I'll give it a good home. :p

LMAO! Yep.... that's what that cute chic would've done when I showed her my Han Solo. Hubba Hubba! o_O:lol:

The dna 40 in my sunbox has taken a beating for sure, nothing ever will compare to a mech, especially a reo, but regulateds are built tough these days. Heat, cold, theyll still kick, its how u take care of ur mod in general on the daily that dictates its longevity.

Not sure how long regulated devices would work when left in extreme heat, and extreme cold. Would love to see someone (Russ) put'em to the test. Even with good care, the electronic devices I've used (cheap China sh_t) couldn't even handle regular use. This was of course when vaping was new to me, and I was buying popular stuff on the market - stuff that always seemed to malfunction.

Anyway, the Reo has no worries. When on the Road traveling..., you have no fear when a dear Reo is near. :)

If the Noalox is working good for you, then you'll probably LOVE the Deoxit Gold. Here's a link to a sample kit.

Living in MN ive dealt with both sides of the weather spectrum and had no problems with my sunbox but it is no cheap chinese mod (aside from wicking a frozen mod lol). But nothing will outlast the reo for sure. I have deoxit gold but finishing my noalox lifetime supply first has proved, well, endless, ill get on the train soon lol.

It has nothing to do with Sin City. Anybody can buy what they want within reason if they plan it into their budget. Mine has included Reos on the top of that list this past year, with no family to care for left I have gave Reos priority. In fact it's been been a long time since I've even been in a big casino, pretty sure late 2002/2003. Too many tourists in the big casinos, as a local I have my own watering holes. Just seeing a new day is a big enough gamble for me now days. I remember about when because I took a gal pal to the private dinner party/first performance I was invited to just before Bill Pinkney (the last active original member) and The Drifter's relaunched the reformed group with yet some more new members. It was a fun night with a long performance during cocktails, and another after an exceptional dinner with another cocktail hour. As a close friend of the host we also spent a bunch of time with them backstage. We were remembering the era's in music they had sung through since the early 50's, them jumping into some of the forgotten songs along the way. My lady friend was too young to even know who there were, but she had a good time anyway.

But a problem with buying so many so fast is what appealed to me the most has changed 2-3 times during the year. And it doesn't help either that I have narrowed my list of ADV's way down as well. So I really don't need all these Reos, I have some Reos I'm not using at all, some I seldom use and lots of atty's I don't use. It comes down to separating needs from wants that is a problem for me when it comes to Reos. I have a couple of favorite models now that I like better and use more than the others, same with the atty's. I want more of them (even though I don't really need them) and maybe less of the others. How to get from here to there is what I am pondering right now since I am not a fan of the classifieds here. I have been thinking about putting some with extras up for trade in the trade thread here. Trying to figuring out how to even up trades for specific new favored models bought/sent from Rob to me is one way. That would have the added benefit of generating some sales for him as well, an important point to me, so hopefully a triple win if they could be worked out. Trades for pristine used if they have them would also work 'cause all I am interested in have the new 510's so can't be very old. Almost all of mine are new too except for the older Woodvil's, OG VV Grand and OG Mini. Maybe for some extra special 2015 Woodvil's would work too since some are turning up for resale already. The answers to which ones and what for what is not an easy one though. Trades have to work for both sides.

:2c: I learned a very long time ago that when you pass up an opportunity that presents itself, that's at least one more that you probably will not ever experience again in your life. Any opportunity can turn into a life long one that turns out to be the best opportunity that you ever had. I can't imagine how much less my wonderful life would have been without the two exceptional ladies I shared the most important years of it with. The odds were a billion to one that our paths would have ever crossed, but luckily we didn't miss the one shot extremely small window of opportunity when it did. ;)
