Over squonking probably. But also the hole in the drip tip has a lot to do with drawing up juice. A small hole with a hard draw can bring up the juice if there is some sitting in the RBA. Damn girl, you just want me to go there don't cha?

Juice at the base can come from oversquonking - specifically, too much pressure on the bottle. The juice flow is gated by the 510 channel and the more pressure you put on the bottle, the more back pressure you put on the 510 flow (it's a Bernoulli fluid dynamics thing, like squeezing fluid through a syringe). Under enough pressure, the juice will look for other outlets, such as the 510 threads, and thus, the catch cup.
Juice in the dt could be condensation. I find I get more when using a narrow channel dt.

Not exactly, but that's pretty cool.
I won't link it but there's a thread around these parts about modding your bottle to run with no o-ring and lets just say it got a little colorful.
I had DT issues with the stock tip on the RM2. Also had issues with the REMatty. The REM has a little ledge in the tip where juice would collect and occasionally I'd end up drinking juice.
