Coils don't leak. tanks leak, usually from user error.

If you're using prebuilt coils eventually the cotton / wicking material will break down and no longer prevent juice from flowing in freely causing the atomizer to be in a constant flooded state. So if that's what you're referring to, yes after long use they can break down and flood which usually results in ejuice flowing into the air channels and leaking out of the tank.

As mentioned the coils do degrade and lose their ability to wick and then juice can pool up and you get gurgling.
Leaking outside the tank the juice needs a gap to the outside.
