Hello everyone,

I'm new to making my own box mod and my question is, in the videos that I've watched some people are piggybacking 2 mosfets and some aren't, why is that? It doesn't matter if it's on a parallel or series mod, I've seen it on both. And what are the different mosfets that can be used? So far I've only seen the irlb3034. Thanx

One mosfet is good up to 25w or so. Using two or more will let you up the power without fear of overheating the mosfet. There are a few but the irlb3034 is hard to beat

Yeah I just built a switch box with one 3034, and it would barely fire on parallel. I took two 3034 in series and this thing is blazing

The reason some use 2 mosfets is:

1) there's 2, the load is spread out over the both causing them to not heat up as hard.

2) more power supported.

Right now on my home built box. I used 2 in parallel and with a 0.4 ohm coil the mosfets don't even get hot. That's running at about 45w.

Yeah I learned that the hard way. I had just one in my mod, switch box. It got so hot on parallel that I couldn't touch it, but not too hot on the series setting. Good thing I ordered two. I pulled it apart and soldered in the second one and bam! World great. I also noticed on parallel, it took forever to fire, and now it's about normal.

I still have to add in 2 switches. One for a master on/off and one so I can turn on the voltmeter without hitting the fire button. And I think I may change the fire button to a halo LED

I like the poly case myself. Everyone around here in my area who has a DIY, has theirs in an aluminum case. Went with the poly to stand out a bit.

Same here. I didn't realize how dark the red was going to be or I would have went with the clear. But the red hides the scratches

Me either, on Amazon it doesn't look as dark as it does in person. I couldn't be happier with how it looks compared to the rest in the aluminum sea.

I hope you don't mind me asking, what is the small silver and black box located underneath your battery sled?

That is a switch to change from parallel to series mode. I have since removed it. Seems that I had a big voltage drop and higher resistance then I should have. I need to do a lil more research on this setup before I try again with that. I am changing it back to a series only mod
