True enough.
It's just a little unusual. Typically, when I take packages to the PO on my 9am break, by 10am the tracking has updated to show acceptance. Also, I received two packages today and the tracking on both still just shows where they arrived at my PO at like 5am, but nothing since. No sorting complete, out for delivery, delivered, or anything... Definitely out of the ordinary...

Oh well,... they told me Saturday on yours and Loopy's when she scanned 'em in this morning, so I'm sure we're good. ;)

Can't wait to see the unboxing!!!

Thanks for the update CC. I know this has been discussed but what do you recommend to clean and polish the brass? I am not a patina fan an am happy to put some elbow grease into keeping the mod as close to new looking as possible.

Funny I was thinking I miss this picher and going back I see subohmies posted the same sentiment, followed by rossum's fresh updated pic with purple hued patina, followed by CC's sequence of events.

I'm normally not much of a patina fan either -- to the point that I keep a tube of Simichrome on on both of the desks that I use the most. Normally, I would have polished it already, but that purple was kinda interesting, so I decided to let it go for as long as it looked cool. Well, it just looks cooler and cooler. Here's a pic I just took:

Of course, the light has to be just so for it to look THAT purple, but still, I've never seen copper do quite that before. I have polished this mod once since I got it. After cleaning with Simichrome, it got a couple of coats of Renaissance Wax. Understand too that I'm literally a stone's throw from the ocean here, and the air is VERY salty. Stuff patinas, corrodes, or rusts at a horrendous rate here.

Anyway, I'm going to let it continue until I don't find it interesting anymore.

You folks ordering brass mods do realize that they won't look bright and shiny for very long without regular polishing, right?

Yep Rossum I know. I don't mind polishing. In fact I find it sort of therapeutic. Back in my tube mod days I would use Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish on my mods but I was never sure it was the best way to go. Works great on my aluminum Tmod though.

For brass: If you have just a bit of patina (you have not waited too long) you can mix 1 teaspoon salt with 1/2 cup vinegar until dissolved. Add enough flour to make a paste. Rub the paste on the mod and let it completely dry (about 15 minutes). Wipe off with a wet paper towel, then dry and buff. I use this in between thorough cleanings as it doesn't leave a bad smell when finished. If it is bad, Brasso followed by a good soapy wash, dry, buff, and Renaissance Wax.

I've got a good friend here that lives ocean front, he replaces his outdoor AC unit about every 5 years. I'm convinced that plastic will rust around here.

The patina is looking great Rossum :thumb:

It's true. My outdoor unit is 4 years old and fins are falling off the condenser coils already. I figure it will need to get replaced next year, right on schedule. We rebuilt a deck here 3 years ago and used nothing but stainless steel hardware. I don't think it's going to fail structurally any time soon, but the "stainless" is slowly turning brown. It's the price we pay for this view:

May I ask what the two openings in the bottom are for?

Thanks, Jim

Loopy,... I would follow Peng's advice, without question. the lady knows her brass. :)
I use Renaissance Wax to slow the patina process. When I want to shine it back up like new, I take a gray Norton Bear-Tex surface conditioning pad, and just brush it with the grain. It'll look like new in no time. Then I reapply the wax.
I know Robbie had good luck with Brasso. Made his look really nice...

Rossum,... whatever you're doin' to that copper mod,.... keep doin' it! Man, that thing looks awesome!
I hope you find it interesting for quite some time. I'd really like to see where that is heading. :D

Jim, those two holes are necessary for me to spot the magnet holes so that they line up perfectly in the cap. Without drilling holes through the cap and into the body, like you would if you were just putting screws in there, which would be infinitely cheaper and easier BTW... They have the side benefit of removing a little weight from the mod... they are only 1/8" holes, properly chamferred, and do not take away from the appearance of the mod imo... In other words,... they serve a very important purpose. :D
