Just think, no bar squonking
Funny thing is I was told for a device to squonk efficiently, the bar was needed!!! Devices without it don't squonk properly!!! Anyone without a bar on their device have any problems squonking??????? None of mine have that problem................

i find myself here a lot. i cant get over how nice they are. the brass should hit like a tank. has anyone done any voltage drop tests yet?

I keep meaning to do a v-drop test on a brass one... Every time I do final assembly on one, I hate to handle it any more than is necessary...

I'll test the one I'm building this time, when I do the initial mock up,... before I do the final finish work. :)

V-drop on my aluminum was, .19v on a 1ohm coil, and .3v on a .4ohm coil...

For you "no bar" folks... perhaps it would be best to address your concerns in the relevant thread. CC's mods have no bar, right? All the more better, I guess. If you have an issue with mods with bars, don't buy them. No reason to sh*t on them in this thread.

Ok so the mailman was on vacation and his backup was not familiar with the route. My brass beauty got here at 4:30 instead of 2:00. Not my favorite two and a half hours!

My first impressions are that this is a truly amazing device because CC is a truly amazing craftsman. There have been a few posts describing how small the mod is. Trust me it is smaller than you imagine. The seam where the top meets the body of the mod is totally invisible. The internals are simple yet elegant and it hits HARD. Thanks CC for sharing your skills with us.

Totally agree. My "bar mod" is terrific.

I would hate to see this thread become an, other squonker bashin', type thread. There are too many folks that have love for both.
If I didn't have the ability to make these squonkers,... I would own a couple of the other ones, no doubt...

Personal preference, and all that... :thumb:

I'm normally not much of a patina fan either -- to the point that I keep a tube of Simichrome on on both of the desks that I use the most. Normally, I would have polished it already, but that purple was kinda interesting, so I decided to let it go for as long as it looked cool. Well, it just looks cooler and cooler. Here's a pic I just took:

Of course, the light has to be just so for it to look THAT purple, but still, I've never seen copper do quite that before. I have polished this mod once since I got it. After cleaning with Simichrome, it got a couple of coats of Renaissance Wax. Understand too that I'm literally a stone's throw from the ocean here, and the air is VERY salty. Stuff patinas, corrodes, or rusts at a horrendous rate here.

Anyway, I'm going to let it continue until I don't find it interesting anymore.

You folks ordering brass mods do realize that they won't look bright and shiny for very long without regular polishing, right?
That last statement may be challenged with the use of this product: Everbright.... Its a type of clear coat protection for pretty much all metals that tarnish. I brought this up a few weeks back... When I asked CC what he was using if anything to protect the finish.... I bought it for my tube mechs and after getting Into the bottom feeder scene, I kind of forgot about it.....until I saw one if these beauties! I used it on my brass Reo button about 10 days ago to test sample a small surface area and haven't seen any difference in color it's still as bright as the day I shined it up and applied it..... *I didn't use it on the bottom of the button for comparison purposes .... its a 3 step process I used a cap cod cloth (my preferred polish)
, the neutralizer and finally the clear coat using a supplied Teri cloth sponge........ So I guess only time will tell whether or not it stands up to my abuse.... But so far so good.
Sorry for the long reply!

And yes I know that this color combo is a lil goofy but like I said, it's just a test before I apply it to some rda sleeves.

I love all of my mods. They are all pieces of functional art. I am grateful for ecf having so many craftsmen here making top notch equipment for us all to enjoy. :headbang::headbang:
