I found REOs but they are a bit much for my budget.

Anything else out there that costs less but is reliable?

I can't personally recommend anything other than a REO as I have not tried anything else, other than a home built mod that I made to try out squonking..........

I can personally vouch that the smokeless owl and reo grand clone are both decent starter squonkers, if you want to test the waters.

They are both unregulated/mechanical. The reo clone is a grand, so you'll have to sand down the catch cup if you want to use attys larger than 14mm. The atomizer that comes with the owl is not great.

Neither stands up to a real REO, but for $20 they're worth a shot.
