I'm not surprised she thinks that, especially if you consider that the EU has not managed to present a set of audited accounts for the last 19 years! Secrecy is vital.

Actually, I think part of her point is valid, if only in a backward, misguided, unintentional way. Public health policy absolutely should not be subject to any political machinations; it should be formulated by politically independent agencies, that are run by politically independent individuals, who are in no way beholden to any party or faction. As far as the bits about scrutiny and transparency, that's where she gets it totally wrong. If you're making good policy that's based on good science, you should have nothing to fear from public scrutiny.
