rangerrobin - Yep, I joined in August of 2009. ECF played a major role in research on e-cigs as I'd become interested not so much in quitting tobacco but in the technology. Just a couple of years prior to that, even the cigalikes were scary expensive; over $100 (where's the yikes smile?). As the price came down and the tech improved, I felt the desire to try 'em out.
I research everything extensively (not compulsively, of course. Of course!). As a result, it was months later that I made my first purchase. THanks to the information here, I didn't feel the need to start with a device that looked and felt like a cigarette; I bought a Chuck ( still made
here). Basically, I purchased an 18650 mechanical. <G>
The short version goes like this: Seven days after I started vaping, I put out my last cigarette 'cause I couldn't stand the taste. That was after smoking more than 40 years. That story doesn't leave a lot of 'tree' room ....
