It's been a while since the last Quiz, but real life has a tendency to kind of get in the way sometimes, y'know?

So, without any further ado, here is Movie Quiz number 99.

*****

The thread will run its course for a week or so, and I'll bump it with hints and whatnot as needed. Answers will be posted when the time feels right.

There are eight screenshots below. Most of them should be fairly recognizable if you've seen the films. So, which of these movies can you identify?

Please answer with movie numbers only, not titles..

Good luck!

I'm 99% sure of #1 (I would have watched it because of the female lead).
#3, of course! Classic.
#4 -- I'm sitting here laughing just because I was reminded of the movie!
#8 looks vaguely familiar for some reason, but I'll never be able to put my finger on it.

The others, no clue, and no clue on where to start because I don't recognize anyone.

Thanks, caff!

A couple of hints:

#1 is a romantic comedy. A bakery accident explains the pic.
#2 is a sci-fi thriller involving mind adventure.

If that helps.
In other news, apparently we now have spoiler tags! :D

It's not that I've stopped caring, really it isn't. It's just that I'm lazy! And swiping the movie quiz hints almost verbatim from each movie's IMDB listing is just so much easier than making them up myself! So, that's what I've done... again. :D

#1: Cher plays Loretta Castorini, a bookkeeper from Brooklyn, New York, who finds herself in a difficult situation when she falls for the brother of the man she agreed to marry (the best friend of her late husband who died seven years previously). That's the brother in the screenshot, played by Nicholas Cage.

#2: An FBI agent persuades a child psychologist (played by Jennifer Lopez - rearmost in the screenshot), who is adept with a new experimental technology, to enter the mind of a comatose serial killer, (Vincent D'Onofrio - nearest in the screenshot... No, not the dog...

), in order to learn where he has hidden his latest kidnap victim.

#3: This is the famous train car scene from a classic 1935 Marx Brothers movie whose name was later borrowed for use as the title of a 1975 Queen album. Not to be confused with the 1937 Marx Brothers movie whose name was later borrowed for use as the title of a 1976 Queen album.

#4: Eighteen years after their sci-fi adventure TV series was canceled, actors Gwen DeMarco, Sir Alexander Dane, Jason Nesmith, and Fred Kwan, (played by, left to right in the screenshot: Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tim Allen, and Tony Shalhoub), are making appearances at sci-fi conventions and store openings in costume and character. Their fates are altered when aliens known as Thermians arrive and, having mistaken the old TV series for fact and consequently modeling their entire culture around it, take the "crew" into space.

Hope these helped!

I love romantic comedies . . . of the 1930s. Of course, it helps if there's a murder or two thrown in, like The Ex-Mrs. Bradford (1936), The Mystery of Mr. X (1934) or The Mad Miss Manton (1938).

Modern romantic comedies usually leave me cold because they're so whiny and predictable.

Hints ahoy!

#5: Earth's future is plagued by famines and drought, and the planet will not support life for very much longer. In an attempt to ensure mankind's survival, a team of explorers travel through a newly discovered wormhole near Saturn with the aim of locating a suitable new world with the right environment to sustain the human race.

#6: This story follows an unlucky young woman and and a gang of tough, inner-city kids who form an unlikely alliance to try to defend their neighborhood against an invasion of savage alien creatures. In the process, their South London apartment complex is turned into a war-zone.

#7: An ordinary evening in a small Texas town becomes a grisly nightmare when a horde of flesh-eating zombies goes on the prowl. Cherry (Rose McGowan), a go-go dancer, and Wray (Freddy Rodriguez), her ex-lover, band together with other survivors in a no-holds barred effort to escape the carnage. The odds become a bit more even when Cherry, who lost her leg to a hungry ghoul, gets a machine-gun appendage and lets the bullets fly.

#8: The movie's title character, (played by Michael Rooker), is released from prison following his mother's murder. He supplements his job as an exterminator with a series of indiscriminate and violent murders. Fellow jailbird and drug dealer Otis becomes a willing accomplice in the bloody killings. But, as the depravity escalates, things start to get out of hand.

Hope these helped!

I watched it with my kids over this past weekend, and they really enjoyed it. I saw it in the theater when it came out, and it definitely loses a little something, visually, when viewing it at home.

I'm working on the answers post between loads of laundry. It should be up within the hour.
