On mine, I have to adjust the chimney and the length of the wicks in the channels depending on the juice I'm using. As a rule of thumb, less cotton (or whatever you use) is more. With 100 % pg juices I can screw down the chimney tight and make sloppy wicks, on my thicker juices,I have to keep a loose chimney and make my wicks perfect. I personally like to have a very thin (very thin!) strand of wick all the way down into the gaps on the base, as I find it to wick things much quicker. How I get my chimney "loose" is by lightly (just so it sits on the base, maybe a half a thread down) screw in the chimney, then as you screw down the tank top cap w/ tank part you can lightly "push down" to tighten as you screw in and "pull up" to leave it where it is.

Trying to add pic but phones being dumb

I wick mine the same but with chamber opened to about 0.5mm-1mm. screw the chamber all the way down and take note on where the logo is facing, now unscrew the chamber 5 revolutions, place the top cap then screw it down and the chamber will follow along, if you do it right, it will only take 4 revolutions to screw the top cap tight and leaving the extra 1 revolution to expose about 0.5mm-1mm of the juice channels. voila! no dry hits ever :)

Ok, so I am not getting dry hits, and getting tons of vapor with my normal .5 build with 26g kanthal and japanese cotton. Problem is, the flavor is severely muted. Muted enough to not make me want to vape it, even though it blows clouds, and never leaks beside the initial fill. I cut my cotton flush with the deck, and let each tail sit right atop the 4 channels. I don't get why my flavor is so muted. It having such a small chamber should produce some killer flavor like a kayfun would. Same build and juice on my drippers and the flavor is top notch. What gives?

Also, my last fill I noticed my juice was not moving in the tank. I would flip it upside down, and no bubbles or nothing. So I loosened the top cap just a bit to introduce some air, and voila, bubbles galore and now my juice flows in the tank when inverted. Apparently it was air locked, which makes no sense seeming how I bottom filled with a tiny syringe, plenty of air to escape around the side of the needle when I was filling.

I really like this v4, but no flavor is no good. Please someone, help me!!!

It looks so good on my Vela, but I cannot use it with it not giving me the flavor I crave!

I wish I could help you get your Orchid wicking and working properly but I can't.

I have tried everything I can think of to get both of my Orchids wicked properly but nothing I've tried works with either of these RTAs.

I've tried regular organic cotton, Japanese organic cotton pads,Cellucotton and I get the same results every time. Always getting nasty burnt taste after the 8th or 9th hit that doesn't go away. I've tried using so little cotton that it doesn't even touch the inside of the coil to using so much cotton that it's hard to pull through the coil, and everything in between. I have tried leaving the tails of the wicks long enough to touch the bottom of the vertical juice channels to leaving them so short that they don't even go into the juice channels...and still getting the same nasty burnt taste.

After recoiling and rewicking these tanks multiple times I have found out where the burn is coming from. It's not coming from the cotton (even though it taste like burnt cotton), but it's coming from the coil. A brand new coil will turn crispy burnt black yet the cotton will not have any burn spots on it at all.

Have seen this vid long ago, and like I said, it vapes great other than muted flavor. I have since improved it some what, but still not where I think it should be. But oh well, I got a Billow coming in any day now and I am sure that thing will suit me much better. Seems to be what the orchid should have been from the get go. Plus, it's glass and holds a true 5ml of juice. Plus, even more airflow. My Orchid v4 may have to get shelved.

If you stuffed all that cotton in there like the guy did in that video, it's probably the reason your flavors are muted. Yikes. I'm surprised the vapor can even find it's way out of the stack.

I have probably about 1/3rd of that amount in my builds and can chain-vape with full flavor and no dry-hits.
I've experimented a lot with this tank and found that giving the liquid the most direct route to the coils with japanese cotton works best. Cut the cotton tips to a point, wet it, and take your time and form a taper into each channel with the tip of a small screwdriver or scribe.

This is an older pic, but it's basically the same now. Today I use japanese cotton and put less of it in the juice channels.

The coil and wick in this photo looks identical to how I was wicking my Orchid in the past, except your coils look brand new and mine would burn and turn black after about 8 or 9 hits. The coils would burn up yet the cotton would not have the slightest burns on it whatsoever. I'm using Temco Kanthal by the way. I don't have this issue with any other tank or dripper I own. It only happens when I use the Orchid. I'm baffled.

That's strange. I've been using Lightning Vapes 24awg A1 kanthal if it helps any. The other thing I've been doing differently than that pic is getting the coil as close to the intake air hole as possible. The coils get dark but never any build-up, vaping on mainly Mother's Milk and Oober Goober.

I just rewicked it again nearly identical to your picture and so far so good. I'm expecting the usual nasty burnt taste to happen at any moment but it hasn't happened yet. I've even been chain vaping and trying to get the burnt taste to come back but it hasn't.

I'm going to save the pic you posted because this seems to be the best Orchid wick I have tried so far. The Orchid seems to be the hardest RTA to wick, at least it is out of all the ones I own. The amount of cotton has to be just perfect in order to get a good vape on it. Thanks for the picture and explanation on how you wick yours.

Glad it helped you out!

Is the flavor any better or worse?

Thanks for sharing this video dugga. I wicked my Orchid like the one in the video and now my coils and juice is not burning up. But, since wicking it with part of the cotton laying on top of the coil, I have noticed the flavor becomes a bit muted. Oh well... less flavor is better than burnt nasty flavor. :p

The only thing I do different is pack my cotton behind the coil up against the post, and pull a few strands of cotton into the juice channel. Other than the initial leaking after a fill, this method kicks .... ;)

I've been coiling and wicking my two V4's almost exactly the same as pictured above with fantastic results. I even use 80/20 juices and wicks perfectly! You just have to remember to prime before I vape. Hold your fingers over the intake holes, take a couple pulls and then blow out any overrun.
