I am not sure whether this is the right forum for a question about ProVari extension ring compatibility.

I am in the process of buying a ProVari mini but I only want to use the 18490/18500 batteries. I would prefer not to use the standard extension end cap for this model and would prefer to use the ProVari Classic or P3 extension ring instead. I found a website where I can buy this extension ring separately.

Does anyone know if this Classic/P3 extension ring fits on the Mini tube and also to its end cap (where the spring is). Thanks!!

All Provape/Provari extension rings are the same threading (third-party crafted rings may vary), and are compatible between the following models:

-Provari 2/2.5/Mini
-New Classic
-P3
-Procyon
(The Procyon model has no need/use for extension rings, as it is built to 18650 max capacity. It is being listed because the threading is the same, and therefore an extension ring would mechanically connect to it. Rings should not be added to this model, in an attempt to stack batteries. That is dangerous and foolish and will result in harm to the user.)
————————
The end caps are only partially compatible.
New Classic, P3, and Procyon caps are interchangeable.

Provari v2/2.5/Mini caps should only be used on Provari v2/2.5/Mini models. They ARE the same threading, and therefore mechanically compatible, but they will produce greatly reduced performance in the advanced models.

The P3 and Procyon caps are the same threading as the v2/2.5/Mini models, so they are mechanically compatible.
It should be noted however, that P3 & Procyon caps should NOT (repeat NOT) be used with the Provari v2/2.5/Mini models.
The spring tension in the P3 and Procyon caps have the potential to damage the way the boards are mounted in the older models (v2/2.5/Mini).

Definitely true.
The threads are the same.
I've physically checked this myself.
The only difference would be poorer performance from the Procyon if a New Classic or P3 cap was installed.
Vape360 has already confirmed that the Procyon cap can be installed on the New Classic and P3 models, and will undoubtedly enhance their performance.

I Still Disagree with your statement...

The Procyon WILL NOT Perform with the P3 or V2.5 caps. (period)

Disagree all you want. However, I am not spreading misinformation.
My statement is simply that they (all Provape caps, rings, and body tubes) thread together, hence MECHANICALLY compatible.
I never made a statement on actual performance, just a speculation.
The performance of the Procyon does not hinge upon the use of the new end cap. Without the new end cap, performance could/should be greatly reduced, but the device could/should still function.
I have not tested performance, usage, or function of a Procyon with a P3/New Classic cap. Only the mechanical fit of the cap.
I also stated that v2.5 caps should not be used with the advanced models.
————————————————————
Anyway, OP (original poster), it's best to use whichever end cap Provape installed.
Except the Procyon cap aka 'High Performance End Cap" which is backwards compatible with the P3 and New Classic models.

Sounds about the same as using lesser batteries in a mod that has been spec'd for better batteries... They will mechanically fit (as you put it) But... They just won't work as well, or worse...

Misinformation ruins threads and has the potential to hurt people. (please don't do that HB)

Glad i saw this thread ! I bought a 2.5 Gunkote a few months ago when they had the sale, but apparently it's made for 18490's. I have no 18490 batteries and don't really want to use one either. I went to the site and they don't sell the extension cap for that. What are my options ? anyone else sell those ?

Thank you to you all for the replies. I just ordered a Zenkote gunmetal cap for the mini. They didn't have the gunmetal extension RINGS for the Classic Provari (I wanted to get one in order to put it on the Mini - just the tube, not the part where the spring is). the reason i wanted to do this is that the cap looks fugly and i much prefer the feel of the original steel (silver) end cap than the somewhat rounded contour of the extension cap. I found on a German website the extension ring in gunmetal, so maybe in the future I'll get one.

You are quite welcome! Help is always available here.

Sounds like you got yourself set up! You'll have to post pics later to show us how it all turned out!

I'm thinking it should be pointed out that Provape does not recommend using the Procyon High Performance End Cap with the P3 or Classic when using button top batteries as the user will be unable to fully thread it to the end. Only flat top batteries are recommended in this situation.

EDIT: I'm sorry, I'm on my Xbox One, can't copy/paste so I got lazy and typed what I thought I remembered. I suck. Here's what it actually says on their website:

"Some button top batteries may take up more room inside the tube and not allow you to tighten the cap all the way. Works best with flat top batteries."
