The "system of checks and balances" became a joke long before Trump was elected.

It rapidly morphed into a "phone and a pen" during the last administration.

Yeah, but until Congress stops tossing food at each other at lunch in the cafeteria, it's kinds tough to govern without a legislative body to rely on. Of the "three pillars" of our government, the only one that seems to show up and actually do their job is the judiciary. So at least that's something.
