I may have to show this to my mom. She's accepted my vaping since I'm not smoking, but I don't think she's real thrilled about it. Since she loves fox news, maybe she'll be more accepting. Glad to see some good press finally!

you and me both, every time there's a negative thing on the news I get a phone call. *lol*

my bestie watches the news are religiously as my folks do, and she gives me a text heads up to watch and and be ready to fend off the dreaded 80 year old's gloom and doom speech.

I like that guy..in the Fox report ..he's hilarious!

"ah Science, what used to be about science, is now about fame..... I'm now wondering what the NE Journal of Medicine is smoking" *bahwhahahaha*

the chick thinks vaping looks "creepy" why can't you quit like a normal person? *argh*

Another one here who dreads the *call*.
I happen to work in the media, so every time there is a new inaccurate, overblown "Study" released, I have to prepare myself for the inevitable call from my news director.
She has a real issue with vaping, even though she smokes close to 2 packs a day of hand-rolled cigs.

There's nothing worse than that raspy, gravely Phillis Diller voice telling me that vaping is worse than smoking every couple months... along with the emailed study for me to look over.
Of course I gladly rebut with a good 3-5 positive articles that disprove her "study" thanks to ECF and CASAA.
She refuses to give up!!!
Neither do I...

If she thinks a Blu is creepy I would love to see her reaction to what we all vape on. My Reo might give her nightmares which I would thoroughly enjoy after the quit like a normal person comment.

If you've ever had a dry hit, and kept vaping, and it kept tasting worse and more burnt until smoke was coming out, that is overheating.

There is more to it than just dry hits. From Dr. Farsalinos's study, linked above:

"Continuing our commitment for unbiased research on e-cigarettes, we are now launching a new campaign for what we consider to be THE MOST IMPORTANT aspect in e-cigarette safety and future development: TEMPERATURE OF EVAPORATION. Although e-cigarettes do not combust any material, heat is necessary to generate the vapor (aerosol) which is subsequently inhaled by the users. This can result in thermal decomposition of some e-cigarette ingredients, releasing potentially toxic chemicals (most commonly aldehydes, such as formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and acrolein). Until now, no study has systematically evaluated temperatures inside the wick, while we have observed several methodological mistakes in assessing aldehydes release (e.g. ingoring that higher wattage is associated with less puff duration in realistic use)."

Kudos to Gutfeld!

Using his precious primetime slot to fight the good fight for vaping.

He frequently comments on the benefits of vaping and the BS anti-vaping hysteria (and WHO's shoveling it and, more importantly WHY)

Like FOX NEWS or not--it blows away the competitors in ratings in this time slot---so the message is getting out to a wide audience in an accessible and humorous way.

oh wow, an actual positive on vaping on fox. surprising.

Search Youtube for other Gutfeld vaping commentaries and you'll see he does this frequently.

In fact, several commentators on Fox share the same view.

The real surprise would be seeing this type of reasoned thinking on CBS, NBC or ABC (to name a few).

Interesting!

I hope it's well above 5v
:)

It's not about specific voltages, wattages or resistances. It's about power output/concentration vs wicking ability. Given your coil is constantly, sufficiently fed with liquids not to run dry, your coil should not (in theory) go hotter than the boiling point of your liquids. Sort of like how a rice-cooker works. A temperature sensor trips at ~101 degrees Celsius. As long as there is water present, the temperature will not exceed the boiling point of water.

Not going for smartypantspoints here. Just trying to point out there is more to it than staying below a specific number.

This study reminds me of lighting the wrong end of a cigarette, and then saying how bad cigarettes taste.

We as vapors need to be able to quickly debunk these types of "research" with statements like this.

Anti-vaping folks will hear/read this junk science and pass it on as gospel: "Ecigs have Formaldehyde".
They will not have read the flawed science behind it.

If you try to come back at them with talk of old tech, voltages, wattages,etc--i.e actual science---THEY WILL NOT HEAR YOU.

A better response is like tj's and Gutfelds:

"This study was the equivalent of smoking cigarettes backwards....."
"Like eating 300 lbs of brocholli......"

"Like testing a candy bar by eating it with its wrapper on......"

Come up with one that works for you

Meet the mindless repetition of some junk science headline with a pleasant but equally pithy valid retort.
If you engage with facts you will have already lost.

OP, you got me to watch something from fox news, this is not a small feat! While I am glad to see there is SOMEONE in the news willing to say something defending vaping I agree with Johnny Madman a few posts above.

Still not sure what to do with my feelings about watching fox though. :p
