After choosing to delete a thread you will be brought to a new page:
and will be given the opportunity to provide a reason for deletion.. though it is not required it is sometimes beneficial to provide a short reason.
SG owners/mods still have the ability to view the deleted thread
take note of the "trash can" in the lower right corner indicating this is a deleted thread.
Also you will see a "thread tools" option above the first post in the thread which will give you similar options as you have on the Forum Main Page of your group. ( I will go into more detail in another thread)
