I am gunna make twisted micro coils because I accidentally got 32 gauge wires. So I was wondering with a twisted coil what drill bit and how many wraps do I have to do to get a 1.4 ohm??
Ya, you really need a digital multi meter to check the resistance of these coils. Two wires will have half the resistance of a single wire of the same length, but the actual wire length after twisting depends on how many twists there are. More twists will lengthen the wire.
In my limited experience with twisted kanthal, I've found that using 32 gauge gets you to about where non-twisted 28 would (using the twist-with-drill-until-wire-breaks method). I get about 1.1 ohms with 8 wraps BUT YMMV - meter it to make sure, all the time.
I twist the hell out of my 32g to the point where it doesn't untwist at all Lol. bout 6 wraps looking at the coil with legs down give me 1.5. Pulsing the coil and tighten it together with tweezers. Perff
