I read one of the articles. They also say there should be a full court press to encourage switching to vaping. It's also good to see the points about low income smokers. When both parents smoke and switch to vaping it represents a lot of money which will mostly benefit the kids. Interfering with people switching to vaping is a very bad idea.

And the New York Times:
British Medical Group Urges Smokers to Switch to E-Cigarettes
This will take many months to filter through the US three letter bureaucracies before a response is made. And I believe Tom Frieden is currently manufacturing a response to Public Health England's Aug. 2015 report.

Another story pointed out a 1962 report by the Royal College of Physicians linking lung disease with cigarette smoking was used in the historic 1964 US Surgeon General's report on smoking. I expect the new e-cigarette report won't pull any punches.

Depends on if they diy or buy their juice.
$20 for a 30 ml bottle of juice adds up quickly.
A weeks worth of cigs for me was about $40 @ $32/carton.
I vape well over 60 ml of juice a week.
I DIY all of my juice.

then there is the shinyitis factor that one did not have with cigs....

Oy.... That can't be good. :vapor:
LMAO.....After this report, Tom would foolish to attempt a propaganda piece against the PHE report. Although, he may have a fellow named Stan throw a glantz at it. ;)

This is major - the principal attack point against the PHE report was that the panel of 12 experts which concluded e-cigs to be 95% safer than smoking, contained on it an individual with a "conflict of interest" because he'd taken money from a start-up e-cig company to do research on smoking cessation!

This was, obviously, a ridiculous position but enough mud was thrown that, in some quarters, it stuck.

The RCP, however, is somewhat unimpeachable. It was the RCP who first concluded in the early 1960s that there was a link between smoking and lung cancer, and I very much doubt COI allegations will be raised against them.

Tom Frieden is, as noted above, persisting in obfuscating the facts with misleading data. I do hope this causes him to pause his moralistic campaign.

Cigarettes where costing me $60 a week. DIY is well under $1 a week, about $30 a year. That's what infuriates the anti crowd. I believe the direct economic benefits trump the health benefits. A low income family where the parents smoked as I did and switch to vaping as I did save $6,000 a year. The big loser is government. The big winners are the kids in that family. No tax supported government program could match the benefits. From now on I'm calling it the Federal Drug Administration. I bet South American drug cartels have nice offices too.
