OK, here's one especially for Adrenalynn and other bright minds here... Why does vaping, at least for some of us, produce more oil on our face and scalp? It's no big deal for me since I began cleansing more thoroughly--I'm just curious.

I've noticed it mostly with my hair lately. When I smoked cigs, my hair would get dry and frazzled on the ends as it grew out. Now it's so soft and smooth that I need two apps of shampoo to really feel clean. What gives? Is it the lack of cig chems combined with the increase in VG and PG?

It's from stopping regular cigarettes.

A lot of our bodies are still cleansing, which means more pimples, oily skin. Stuff is getting pushed out.

Also the adjustment some notice, like lightheadedness, hot flashes.. those contribute to perspiration. The body gets really hot sometimes while adjusting to the increase in oxygen. This can carry on for weeks.

I noticed these things finally clearing up about 2 months into vaping, started reaching normal levels..then i accidentally smoked a couple cigs the other day. I do that every so often cause I still wonder what they taste like.

I still get the false belief that a regular cigarette will give me a better rush/buzz.

They tasted awful, of course, and only made me more jittery, reminded me how on edge i was all the time with tobacco.

but, those couple of cigs sent my body back to square one really. i have to go through all these changes again as it pushes out the chemicals and cleanses once more.

I don't think there's any evidence PG or VG cause any kind of reactions like this, so my money is on it being a tobacco/chemical cessation symptom.

Jeffree has been vaping long enough that that isn't a valid option, jiveRock. And I'm not clear how one would "accidentally smoke a cigarette"...

Jeffree - not a phenomena I experience, but since you invoked me - I would hazard the guess that it's one of those freak body-over-responding things. Happens pretty regularly where we do things that confuse our bodies into an excessive response. In this case - and again this is a hypothesis only - the humectant action dries out your body. (something I do experience. My hair and skin are far too dry now) The body responds by lubricating. In your case to excess. That said - I'm not a dermatologist, and I'd suggest you consult with one for a more educated analysis.

I think it's not that vaping is making your skin oily, it's that smoking was drying up your skin. Now that circulation is increased your skin is going back to what it would be without smoking.

I have very dry skin but have noticed it doesn't suck the creams up like it used to which is a boon but my rosacea is now more easily triggered as a result too from increased circulation.

Im going to buzz in on this and put this out there. Have you ever gone into a Health food store and picked up a bottle of VG-Vegetable Gylcerin and read the instructions and some of its uses? It's used by many people for moisturizing. Even says so on the bottle. I know VG is all I vape and the vapor leaves a residue on my computer screen, my eye glasses and on my face and skin. I have to clean off my eye glasses several times a day. Same thing with the inside of my vehicle windshield. I have talked with many others reagrding this and they too have had the same results. Hope this helps.....Vape Hard my Friends!

I vape VG too and never get this. And I drive over 2 hours a day and vape with the windows rolled up! I use 0 and 4mg nicotine VG usually, you?
I also wear glasses and don't get a residue. I use V4L and Cignot brands at the moment...

Your money is definitely on the right place & you explained it very well!

I was reading, like any other addiction, it can take a min of 3 months for the body to completely get the carcinogens from analogs fully out of the system. Fluids and vitamin E (known to improve/protect heart function) vitamin B (for energy) may also make it easier.

Acne creams didn't help me. What did help, though, was one of those facial steamers and some unscented Ponds cleanser(not scrubber). (They also help with getting junk out of your lungs but so do baby water vapor machines (check out Amazon) and/or gym steam rooms if you don't like planting your face directly into steam for 15-20 minutes)

I vape cignot and innovapor from 18nic to 24nic. I do use the AFS and AVS at 6volts and go thru about 8 to 12 mils a day. Like I say I get residue film on almost everything. If you dont than good for you. But it does happen for a fact to me and others!...Vape hard...I do!

There are thousands of chemicals in cigarettes. Many more addictive than the nicotine. And the nicotine is shifted towards the freebase to increase addictiveness in cigarettes.

Adrenalynn! I noticed you're in Sacramento, as well as I! Well, Roseville to be exact !

It's quite scary to hear about all those chemicals. I used to smoke 'nat sherman' cigarettes which were advertised 'additive free' but im starting to doubt that!

But hey, there's nothing like a pitcher of Green Tea to purge the system of carcinogens, free radicals! I'm on my 2nd pitcher today! Asian Paradox for the win!

I keep meaning to post about this - my windshield is really smoodgy - I drive a lot for work and vape constantly. I figured that alcohol would do it, but it's not cutting thru. Same with heavy duty windshield cleaner. Any ideas?

(Lyne, I had the same thought re oily skin - might be compensation. Wish it'd happen to me - I remain charmingly dessicated.)

I'd try using PG to remove PG myself... It's an industrial cleaning solution, after all. I'd imagine, not that I've tried it, that it'd take any deposit back into solution, and they could be wiped and Windex'd whilst still wet. Just a thought...

To prevent future build-up, I'd probably try Rainex on the inside of the window. Couldn't hurt, right? It's basically just a light-duty wax that doesn't streak much.

Well, I thought this was an interesting discussion about the build-up on glass and eyeglasses. My glasses don't seem any dirtier than before vaping, however I do work in a warehouse.

As for vaping not causing any skin issues, I'd have to say that's probably not correct. The reason for extra oil production is the skin overcompensating for what it thinks it lacks, why everyone complains that they are "so thirsty"? The liquids dry out our body, which is why everyone is always telling you to "drink lots of water". Your skin dries out too, so it produces even more oil to make up for it. People tend not to want to moisturize when they have oily skin, yet you still need to do so. Moisturizers do not put moisture into the skin, they merely lock in what is already there, so "drink lots of water". The whole cycle of the skin cells renewing themselves is interrupted when there is lack of moisture, and too much oil production, not to mention hormones thrown out of whack by no more cigarettes. Add all that up and you have layers of skin cells that don't behave normally. As for the skin problems subsiding in a few months, that's not always true either. Mine is getting worse, and I'm still using the same juices I always did, so I'm trying to play around with omitting some, and increasing others. More vitamins, more fruits, vitamin C. Though I've always eaten lots of fruits and veggies anyway, so it's not always the lack of those either. Sadly, there is no clear answer.
