Hard to explain the workflow, especially as regards toning, but it has become sort of a trademark for a lot of the cultural images. I work in Lightroom and Photoshop, and have developed a variety of toning techniques and split-toning techniques. Basically I tweak a color version of an image and then create a toned (usually sepia) version. Then I sometimes combine the two on layers in PS, masking along the way to let some of the color mix with the sepia. I usually end up with
three or more variations that I can use for various appications, moods, requests, etc... We can talk further privately should you have more questions. I am always glad to help if i can... Aloha, GP.
