Battery Issues .....18650 BURNING HOT !!!

Just noticed that the bottom of the battery is dented, was it like that before the near meltdown?

Battery Issues .....18650 BURNING HOT !!!

    1) .5 ohm coil is not the problem. The battery can handle it just fine. It's not a short (or even close enough to a short), it's just low resistance. 2) AW IMR 2000mah is a 5C battery capable of 10 amps. 3) Smoketech telescope has the switch on the ground side of the circuit. Meaning that...

    Z atty U voltage drop

Even the best Fluke meter isn't accurate enough to do it right. Just doesn't have the resolution on the ohms scale. 4-wire method will tell you the resistance of a solid piece of copper. I'm just saying that if someone wants accurate results, there is a better way if doing it. Batteries are...

    Z atty U voltage drop

The only reliable way to measure voltage drop through the atty is with a well regulated DC current (bench power supply, DC-DC converter, Provari) or with 2 multimeters; voltage in compared to voltage out. Batteries are too unreliable and will throw off the results from one measurement to the...

PWM for Power Control + Hello!

This is mostly guesswork, as I haven't actually played with any of the 33hz boards, but I have played with my 100hz VV Gripper board and there are only so many ways to get the desired result. The boards are basically 2 voltage converters paired together into one. A boost converter to raise the...

PWM for Power Control + Hello!

Provari uses both; output filter and a higher freq. the filter is responsible for smoothing out the signal and making it appear to be a flat line, and for all practical e-cig purposes it is a flat line. You have to zoom WAY into be able to see the ripple (usually measured in mV). Higher freqs...

PWM for Power Control + Hello!

We're on the same page, UncleChuck. I agree. What I was saying is that where watts are concerned, there is no difference in the power being delivered to the coil. A watt is a watt no matter how you slice it up. The difference is in the amount of heat that is transferred to the juice. Our...

PWM for Power Control + Hello!

Most all VV/VW mods these days use a PWM controller. The linear regulators have become relics, although they can still be found in cheap BoxMods. If you're the kind of person to "pull your own teeth" then a 555 can certainly make a fun project. Popular DIY regulators include the OKR-T/6 (~$9...

    Suggestion for Wizard Labs fans

I was about to do the same in a few days until I got the email notification last night that nic was back in stock. I don't know if I got the email later than others or if I was just too slow, but the 100mg/500ml was sold out before I could hit submit. Had to settle for 250ml.

    Batteries Care

Dont get me wrong, the possibilities are very real, but also very rare. Battery safety is a personal responsibility, so if the noob doesnt heed one of the thousands of overzealous battery warnings or as least ask some questions, then there isnt much hope for him anyways. I provide the facts...

    Battery questions...

I'm gonna have to debate that... While I would tend to agree that it is probably a VAMO error, it should be verified that it is indeed the VAMO reading high. I'd hate to brush this off as the VAMO's error when his batteries could actually be overcharged. Certainly wouldnt be the first...

    Batteries Care

I always love these threads. Who in this busy world has the time to actually practice all of these "recommended battery safety" techniques? Never leave a charging battery untended. Never charge overnight. Unplug charger when not in use. Remove the battery when the light turns green...

    Questions About 18650 Batteries

2 depleted 18350's would have to be under 2.1v per cell to be recognized as a single cell. At that point there isn't much hope for resurrection and the mod will cut off as soon as you push the fire button. There isn't enough energy left in the battery to maintain the voltage under load and the...

    Gripper Discussion

None, and I wouldn't recommend one even if it would fit. You need an IMR/Hybrid battery.

    Questions About 18650 Batteries

It only works like you described in parallel setups, which are very rare outside of DIY Modder's builds. In a series (aka "stacked") setup it is very common for one battery to drain faster than the other even if they start off at the exact same voltage. Effectively the exact opposite of what...

The Groove and or the Varicool vs Ego Twist

Technically, no. 2 in series @ 900mAh is still 900mAh. However it is now 900mah @ 7.4v instead of 3.7v. This is where watt/hours come into play. You'll get 6.67Wh with 2 batteries instead in 3.33Wh with one. So you do effectively double the vape time even though mAh is the same.

The Groove and or the Varicool vs Ego Twist

The VariCool is a good box mod. Uses one of the best voltage regulators available. I've built a few mods with the same regulator (as have MANY other modders) and haven't had any issues. If you like minimalistic with great function, it's the way to go.

Volts, Ohms, Amps and Watts Explained

For the battery drain current, it gets a bit more complicated when VV/VW and PWM is involved. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/rader2146/3500-calculating-battery-drain-current.html

    China GG and battery?

Protection circuits usually cutoff around 2.75v, though some may be 3.0v and some may be 2.5v. You have to look at the specs for the specific battery that you are looking for.

Mech mod safety: charging and low res vaping

10 amps for the 18490 and 2000mAh 18650. 24 amps for the 1600mAh 18650. With a mech mod you won't get 4.8v or even 4.2v. Loaded voltage (the voltage that matters for amperage calculations) might hold ~3.8 on a fresh charge with sub-ohm coils. If you really wanted to push the envelope...
