Metal drip tips are going to absorb a LOT more heat away from the vapor. The voltage is unaffected, but the net result is the same as a slight increase in power.
What battery are you using?
IMR, Hybrids, and most high quality ICR's and just fine down to 2.5V and can be recovered (with a good charger) with minimal damage from a short stint down to 2.0v. Below 2.0v they should be tossed.
There is no formula for us to use. The limits are set by the manufacturer based on several factors with the goal of limiting heat production. If the burst or pulse rating is not advertised, there is no way to figure it out on your own.
Operating a battery above it's constant current rating is...
These boards are pretty resilient. You can exceed the 2 amp limit because we only fire for short bursts. The 2 amp limit is set to prevent excessive heat buildup from continuous use.
Resistivity, Conductivity and Temperature Coefficients for some Common Materials
Once you determine the dimensions of your conductor then you can calculate the resistance and voltage drop across the conductor. There will certainly be a point of diminishing returns, but that up to you to...
It does seem like an whole lotta work to make it rechargeable. You're also gonna cut the energy capacity by at least half by using Li-Ion vs NiMH (~2.8Wh vs ~6.0Wh)
On the other hand, a modder's job is never done. If it ain't broke, fix it until it is...and then fix it again.
Should be a...

The performance tells me that they are the real thing...on the minute chance that they are not, they would be DAMN good fakes.
You could call it a matter of semantics. There were references to "PWM mode" and that some mods were "not using PWM". Those statements on their own are misleading as all stated devices use PWM in some fashion. Whether the mod has a square wave output or a low ripple DC output will depend on the...
Just for the sake of clarity...there is a HUGE different between the terms PWM and a Pulsed Output. PWM is a function of the regulator; a method of controlling voltage. A pulsed output is just that; On-Off-On-Off-On-Off.
ALL modern VV and VW devices use PWM as a means to give us variable...
Yep...this again.

That's why voltage drop is so subjective. It is extremely difficult to get a simultaneous comparative measurement. But, knowing the battery used and resistance of the coil is good enough to make a comparative judgement.
Which AW: 1600 or 2000?
My 3 mechs play out like this:
CCTS (sanded contacts) - .32V
Sig #8 (many modifications) - .17V
Brass M16 Clone (zero mods) - .15V
All measured at 1.0Ω with Samsung INR18650-20R.
Actually, 15 watts would be 4-5 amps average (depending on state of charge) and as many as 10+ amps pulse. That's amusing that the SVD can deliver 15 watts from a single battery, but I dont know if it shares the same flaw as the VAMO and other VW mods that fall flat at 11-12 watts,
Bottom...
Very nice tests Mad Scientist. I'll be interested in seeing more results.
This concept is an effect of the enthalpy of vaporization (Layman's terms: heat transfer during vaporization). As part of a liquid evaporates or boils, it cools the liquid remaining behind because it must extract the...
Couple key notes from the datasheet:
-Output Current Current-limited. Devices can withstand sustained short circuit without damage.
-(6) Short circuit shutdown begins when the output voltage degrades approximately 2% from the selected setting.
This would tell me that all the short...
Series batteries and a buck regulator (with built in current limiting, short protection, and thermal shutdown)...Output current will always be higher than the battery drain current.
OKR-T/10 regulator with series batteries. Very awesome little regulators. The OKR-T series regulators has been on the market for a LONG time and are/were the "go to" regulator for modders before the DNA20. I have 3 of the T/6 series (6amp) that I run in 2x14500 and 2x18350 box mods.
