    I would get some old electronic device, pull out the circuit board, and practice on that. My early soldering was pretty crap, but it has improved dramatically. There's some great soldering tutorial videos online, very useful to accelerate learning.

    I know of at least one other supplier who has a thread just like it, and just reposts such knowledge (with attribution) himself. Just a thought, if errant posts in that thread are to be avoided. Some of my suggestions are Monkey Poo, some are just plain poo.

    Also: why is the Library thread - which I have steadfastly ignored because I am a silly humanoid - not locked to posts? It seems logical, pdib only in the Library, pdib + riffraff here.

    I scrub my coil down with isopropyl after a dry burn. What's left is a like-new coil, shiny like when I first wrapped it. I never leave any residue on the wire, and I also swab the whole interior of the atty, including inside the top cap.
