Thanks...I never had luck with my DIDs, all metal tank. The SS wick tasted metallic and would drift to a burnt taste. 1, I think I used too much SS for the wick and it wasn't working fast enough and 2, I use NiChrome instead of Kanthal...I hear from Kanthal users that they hate NiChrome...
Kabonk,
You have 4 provari's with 4 near identical tanks (here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/provape/280853-best-looking-tank-provari-post-picture-please-48.html#post7577373) What are they?
Thanks!
Chris
UPDATE TO USING YARN ON THE SPLITFIRE
Ok, so my SF with the yarn wick has been just "Ok" today with my Flux Butterscotch juice. The vapor production went down. I wasn't getting dry hits, just weak hits. Flavor was fine, there was no burnt taste.
The wicks were moist, just not saturated wet...
I've noticed this and can duplicate it time and again with rewicked/recoiled heads and stock heads. Over tightening the center disc to the lower tank mushes the atty head grommet and causes the short. For safety, I test the SF every time I change from a different unit. It makes me nervous...
Here's what worked for me...drip a drop of juice above the lace tip and give it a moment. Then pull the lace tips off. Pinch the wick in the middle and give the end a twist in the direction of the existing twist. The juice holds it together and it slides right through.
It worked great, but...
The VN v5that you can see all over Alibaba has a metal sleeve with a window cutout that goes over the tube. The tube is then a hair slimmer so that the sleeve is held by the caps.
You sure that you don't know your own monkey strength? Just checking...
You know, that's just more reason for GV to make the SF tanks more like the VN V5, metal covered clear tanks with window cutouts...the cracks aren't stopping it from working, just from looking good.
Thanks for the heads up! I rewicked/coiled both SplitFires and did 1 with some Flux Butterscotch, the other with some VZ Banana. I also did my VN with new wick and some Flux peach/pineapple. I put some VZ Hawaiian Punch in a VN mini, and a CE4 with some Green Fairy. I'm juiced up to rotate...
ALSO....for everyone who saw the rewicking vid and has had a bad coil....If you want to REUSE the silica wick, because like me you have an issue paying a $1/ft for string, you can easily recoil the silica and twist the ends with a drop of juice and they thread easy. Almost no need whatsoever...
That's a shame about the cracking tubes. I can't crank them that tight, I think my center pin is too long because as soon as I tighten the top chamber my ohms dissappear...Looking into it, the center plug in the atty head starts mushing the grommet. I was thinking about dremeling the post...
Can you taste the SPW in another atty, carto, tank, clearo? Do you have dud buds?
What if....just, what if....all of the extreme vapor from the SplitFire is burning out our taste buds?! Ohhh no!!!
Try taking off the top cap and pull the wicks up a bit. They should almost be draping into the holes, not pulled tight. NO tension on the wicks...just a thought.
Dud buds! NOOOOO!!!! I haven't had a cigarette in almost 2 months now!?!?!
I can't taste my juice! I....I....I'm....dying....
The vaper across the hall, she gave my personal evaporated nicotine inhalation system a few tugs and said it tasted fine to her....SO IT IS ME! I was blaming the...
Where's the pics of your mod?
I can't taste the juice today! My taste buds are off or something...I get a bit of flavor when giving a tug or two without hitting the button, but my vapes taste like dull PG. What's wrong with me!?
At first I was blaming the SF, but both the cotton and silica...
NJT...try using a pin and go through each of the 4 ports, poking several times. Hold it sideways and filled when you do it. Are you using silica/cotton wick/gauze/cotton ball/yarn?
I didn't want to fill out the ticket. I'll just buy more. I'm not really going to go through the effort for $6.00, I'm that kind of lazy.
When are you going to sell blister packs of heads? I'd rather get discount on 10 so that I'll have paid the right amount for the 6 that work! :laugh...
No doubt, I just won the bum head lottery. I'm still into the SF but I'm beginning to weigh out the fiddle-factor vs. ease-factor between the SplitFire and the Vivi. Combine the wicking through the ports, splitting the tank to fill, vs. drop-fill-vape of the Vivi, I'm on the fence. I may keep...
I'll second that! I only bought two SplitFires and BOTH OUT OF THE BOX were bunk.
Yeah, the one where the plastic tip didn't fit through, I was tugging with pliers and I guess because it was so tight, squeezing through the hole, it sort of fused onto the silica then ripped half of the wick off...
