    Mechanical Protege Switch quirky?...

Well, I am going to test the loaded voltage like you did on the Prodigy V2 video. I got some wiring all hooked up with one end on a 510 atty adapter and the other to the old plug for my dryer. Gonna see what this thing is really made of. I really like the lifetime warranty thing! :D

    Mechanical Protege Switch quirky?...

Ahem...I got the original short post adapters, Steve. No need to tap them down. The only mod I did was to achieve the opposite, I deepened the slots in one of them to make it draw more like the ones with a longer post! Does this mean my Protege is finally coming home? And...

    Mechanical Protege Switch quirky?...

Glad it's working better for you - gives me hope mine will work well! :) I can see them needing to get broken in, so they'd seat more easily, but I do not understand why you wouldn't be able to screw the adapter on properly.

    Dead Protege

You posted in the right place. At least you know what the problem is. IMO so many people have had switch problems on the Protege, that PS either shouldn't be selling Proteges with them at all, or they should send kits out with a spare! Unfortunately, there is already a thread about problems...

    Dead Protege

Do you have a multimeter? Also, those switches can be finicky. Have you tried taking it out and carefully replacing it?

    Mechanical Protege Switch quirky?...

That's disturbing. Steve mentioned to me that you have press firmly to get 'em to fire. Maybe a little Noalox?

    Hey GrimmGreen

Yes, I'd love to have a black Protege. I wonder what the best way to put a durable black finish on it would be? Find someone with a powder coat gun?

Alt Smoke = Speediest Order Processing EVER!!

I agree 100% about the 901 at 6v. The 510 is too easy to get that acrid burnt taste. Seems to be too fine a line between too dry and flooded also. I never like the 901 at 3.7v - had just about forgotten I had some. Was having trouble with the 510s at 6v and remembered them and they work great...

the "i just ordered my v2" thread

I can play the PC version on a 26" monitor at 1920x1200 resolution with 500watts of 5.1 surround sound, OR on my 50" HDTV. And no console's gonna render it better than my computer does. And yeah, no dedicated servers sucks in a way, but it does help keep the hackers out. Every little bit helps...

    Weak Vapot From My Protege'

Some use Brasso or something similar on the brass switch contacts. Actually a pencil eraser will do a very good job. Keep rubbing the black stuff off the eraser (I just rub it off onto a towel or my jeans) and keep going until they contacts are nice and shiny. I use alcohol to clean the end...

Yup. Cleaning the brass switch contacts and the end cap threading makes a huge difference. :thumb:

Steve's a camper? You know what they say about campers don't you Steve? I'd tell ya but then I'd never see my Protege again 8-o

the "i just ordered my v2" thread

Steve, I definitely don't want mine to be a *naked* edition, that's too much SS to be plain unless you plan on doing your own custom job. And I really like the PS logo on the Protege. I also really like grimm's design, but I would REALLY like to see how it winds up looking etched before I...

Voting: PureSmoker Prodigy V2 Logo Contest

Good work. I figured as much (tracing it out by hand) but I thought maybe there was some combination of saving as a .pdf or .psd in Photoshop and then using live trace with custom settings in Illustrator that worked. I'm not very artistic, so I avoid the 'by hand' stuff whenever I can. Maybe I...
