Ceasar made one with a custom board that was 2 cm x 1 cm. There is more than one way to skin a cat. The MOSFET that I will be using is only 2mm x 3mm.
I will post pics next week of a USB carver charger and touch switch in a AA box
I will also keep the cost under $20 for the completed box
you can get a MOSFET from Newark or digikey for less than $1 and a board from sparkfun for $2 and a resistor for a coue cents. To me this seems just as cost effective as the radio shack switch. Plus the benefit of space saving as the chip and board is much smaller than the RS switch.
I did go with the max1811 and set for 4.2v and 500mA.
Soldering the board sucked. The engineers at work told about some paste I could use and the stick them in the over at 450 and the chip would self center do to the surface tension when the paste become liquid.
a2dcovert - Got the charge...
I do plan on making a custom board soon. I have the MOSFETs in front of me. Just waiting on a board to test with. One of the engineers I work with is going to design a board for me.
No pass though yet...Pass though was not really all the important to me as I do not vape in the house. I vape like I used to smoke, never in the car, house, or at work.
I plan to add the ability to use as a pass though. This has really sparked an interest in electronics.
When my parts...
WOW
It seem to take forever packing all this into one AA box but it is done!!!
My usb rechargeable NicoStick:
Next week I will be building the Touch Sensor usb rechargeable NicoStick.
Cheers
What are the dimensions of that board. I will be making one next week with a charge chip and MOSFET although the chips I am using are much smaller ... Sot23-5 and so8
I have the 401, 510, 801, 901. Of all these the 510 is my favorite. Nice easy draw and tons of vapor.
I also recommend using a box mod. In the long run it will save you money.
Cheers
