OP's mentions a woman in London who was taken to hospital for "shock" and "smoke inhalation" after her ecig battery vented. Cause: improper charger. No actual fire mentioned.     I vape like a madwoman in the car as part of my personal PR campaign for vaping. Have yet to have a LEO stop me. Too bad, as most of them around here are young and really cute. Damn. ;)

    There's a Janty ecig brand. Could it be that? I know it's available in the UK but not sure about the US. (The "800" may refer to 808 threading?)
