    Oops, yes - I am measuring the charger directly without any batteries charging. I'll try to measure a freshly charged battery and see what the voltage is.

    Hello, Just got a charger for 18650s and I got a reading of 4.6v. It's a 'trust fire' multi-charger brand and it says the output is 4.2v @ 500mA. Is this variance ok? It could be my meter because it's old so I'll try to borrow one later. Thanks!

    Dusty, You cannot imagine how much relief you've given me with your post. I can sleep better tonight -thank you very much. I did suspect it was the angle in which the button was pressed. (More often if I use it 'thumb style'.) Owe you a drink if we ever meet.
