Note that different mods have different cutoff voltages, that needs to be taken into account. Also account for chip inefficiency, add 10% to the amps in the calculation (if you know the actual mod efficiency, use that in your calculations).

It is indeed strange that kanthal/nichrome is still the go to material for prebuilt coil heads, and not only for Smok. Seeing as almost all new mods can do tc with ss, stainless steel really should be the primary choice for manufacturers.

Note that basically all the batteries we use are hybrid chemistry rather than true IMR. That's been the case for a very long time.

That's good. I had the impression (from Djlsb vapes' review I believe) that the 510 wasn't the best and that extra resistance/tc instability could therefore be introduced by it, but I could be remembering incorrectly.

It'll go to 75w with the firmware update. There's an updated version though, the VTwo Mini. As far as I can tell the only update is a clock on the screen though.

A lower resistance means more power (as the battery isn't adjustable), which means that the wick/liquid burn more easily. Other clearos have more efficient wicking and airflow to counter that though.

The ce4 is simply a bad clearomizer. I started out with those, over four years ago. It's very easy to get dry hits with them and testing has shown that the coil temperature quickly gets so high that you may potentially overheat the liquid to a dangerous degree.

I haven't ordered new vape gear in ages so these sales are stressing me out. What to order, what to order? :-D This time I tried to get a new video projector but no free shipping was available so I cancelled. Better luck next time :-)

Very few batteries are IMR though (I can't think of any actually). Most of the batteries we use are of a hybrid chemistry. ICRs are definitely not ago good choice of course (though I'm not sure if the Aspire batteries are actually ICR chemistry or if the "ICR" is simply part of the model...
We need more information on the batteries. There's a huge variance in 18650s, though most of them are flat tops. Some are not suited for vaping. They were Samsung, right? What is the model? And where did you buy them? Unfortunately there are many fakes in circulation.

This is in no way true though:
"Herbert Gilbert and his “smokeless non-tobacco cigarette” made vaping popular"
It's not like a commercial product based on Gilbert's design was ever available.

Are the batteries also two years old? Might simply be that you need new ones. Also, more information on them is needed? What model? Samsung 25r? Samsung 30q? Something else?

Without a resistance reading you might have a short and not know it before you press the fire button, resulting in battery venting. Get a resistance reader now.
