    well, after deoderizing the caar, the cabin air filter will also need a change, should be done every 30k miles anyway iirc. but if it was a smoking car, it will most likely be saturated with smoke particles that will make the air system smell untill it is changed.

    and while your in there, pop in a dryer sheet or 2... and just to clarify, your car's manual shoud have it labeled as the cabin aiir filter. NOT the engine air filter.
