The difference between coil setup in a VN and the Drunker is in the drunker the grommets snap under into the base plate rather than into the cup. Ceramic is nice not having to worry about touching the sides like in the VN.
Actually when i was rebuilding yesterday tightening everything down for...
Yeah there seems to be a lot of metal fears it seems are rumor based. It's so bad that well respected atty designers are forced to avoid safe metals like aluminium.
Well I wasn't happy with the last coil setup so I redid it with my 33 awg kanthal 4 wraps but made sure everything was tight and got the ohms down to 2.3 which seems perfect at 3.8 volts now. You can tell when you did everything right when the first hit taste clean.
By the weight and feel along with a magnetic test I would say the drunker is made out of aluminium and stainless steel.
Adeline, good to see the cheese cloth worked great. It can be a little more finicky than other wicks but does taste great.
The worst grommet burn I have ever had was from a...
I just got done rebuilding mine, used a smaller sewing needle and one less wrap to lower the ohms a bit. I measured the legs of my last coil and each leg is exactly .5inch, so the legs alone are 1 inch of r-wire.
Wiredlove, glad you figured everything out and got it tight again. I love this...
I have found close coil wraps creates a more even heat dispersal making overall better temperature control through out the coil. With really far spaced coil wraps the coil ends up with seperate points of higher temperature along the wick.
Wrap your coil with the wraps as close together as possible. The closer the wraps the less likely it's going to burn the cotton. You don't want the coil too tight around the wick either, you should leave room for expansion. Also that wick material looks like a tight weeve so definitely let it...
Depends on the wire gauge, but I would be afraid of chipping the ceramic. The only time I have ever burnt the rubber grommet in my novas was when I didn't let the cotton soak.
I think I'm going to rebuild my drunker today to lower ohms so I have a new performance report for the thread. :D
I have never got nr legs to work in my novas, just not enough room for a wire splice. With cotton and thinner rw I have never needed them because of temperature control.
That being said I do want to experiment with r-wire and non-r-wire welding like with the tsaf. Which is a mini welder...
Just about every type of cotton you can buy will be treated with chemicals in some stage of production. JD is right also that bleached cottons actually do wick better than non bleached. Boil your cotton then rinse and squeeze as much water out as you can then let them sit over night and dry...
Something I noticed different compared to vivi novas is the legs are longer in the drunker. My medium sized sewing needle 4 wraps 33 awg kanthal in my novas always came out to 1.8ohms every time, and the exact same setup in my drunker came out to 2.6ohms. I just did the math and each leg is...
When talking about cotton for wick material you have two main different categories.
Cotton Wools: ( cotton balls, cotton rounds, cotton gauze, Q-tips) These are some of the most absorbent types of cotton we can use. Cotton wool is basically raw cotton that hasn't been woven making it fluffy and...
The skills definitely translate, here are much better pics that actually made my decision to get it. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/rebuildable-atomizer-systems/372190-inside-drunker-tank.html
I didn't mean to hijack the thread or anything. I just knew that anyone that enjoys rebuilding...
