News article from BBC re: ecigs

Call me a pessimist but I have concerns about big tobacco's in your face approach to marketing E-cigs. Any product that is associated with them is bound to get a knee jerk reaction from regulators and anti-smoking groups. I live in the US and from what I've seen forcing the FDA to determine...

    Vivi nova rebulding question

I've always used silica/mesh wicks and kanthal (does take a few cycles to break in, and I always flame treat it to remove residues), not too sure about the taste of nichrome. I have read that cotton can be heat sensitive (burn) and I vape at higher temps. there are alot of good threads about...

    Vivi nova rebulding question

If your whole coil is kanthal, the bare wire that goes to the gasket will heat at a higher rate than the coil wrapped around the wicking medium. This overheats the gasket, reduces the amount of vapor and gives a metallic taste. A lot of folks twist the kanthal legs to reduce the resistance to...

The mailman has never been so awesome before...

I really appreciate my mailman, if I have my windows open he waves to let me know I've got a package. We've chatted a few times and he thinks its pretty cool, job security for him too.

Do I need this much stuff, really?

I cleaned house yesterday and wound up with a 3 foot wide shelf full of diy juice/flavors, commercial juice and rebuilable parts, I'm also using a small corner of my freezer. Probably enough juice and coil material for 4 months, but for some reason I'm waiting on 4 pieces of vapemail this week...

    The Pyrex SS hybrid Wick

So the soda is still holding, how did you do do it? Sealing the top might be kinda tricky but that sounds a lot more durable than the glass.

    The Pyrex SS hybrid Wick

NR wire is necessary leaving the tube or you get really hot legs. I didn't have any I felt comfortable using though, .999 silver is ideal because its malleable, but melts too easy, nickel might be too rigid and damage the glass. I might pick up some strong flux and solder small lugs of thick...

    The Pyrex SS hybrid Wick

Thanks! A lot of good concepts from some great folks to test on this thread. Look back at pg 142 bapgood was kind enough to post some picks for me, one of them is a sewing needle that I used to twist both legs of the coil around kinda like a cork screw. I was worried about running a lead through...

    The Pyrex SS hybrid Wick

Coil round 2(on right) sealed the base and extended the coil (2 ohm), left small air gap around leads. Wrapped w/ 30mm #500 mesh. Fired for about 30 min off and on @ 8watts with 80%vg. Great vapor production after warm up. I didn't use nr leads so I didn't try to vape it I know what hot kanthal...

    The Pyrex SS hybrid Wick

I received my glass last week, and decided that a pyrex coil sleeve was the most viable solution, but couldn't buy any more materials for this project because of digikey, hkg li-po, and wizard orders. Today i just decided to use what i had on hand ( willmad 3mm & 2.5mm)and work on some of the...

    The Pyrex SS hybrid Wick

Cool concept, until you source the drain valve could a ±1mm hole and a small recess be relatively effective? The capillary action of the mesh would create a vacuum in the juice chamber and draw in the accumulated juice. Interested to see the results

    The Pyrex SS hybrid Wick

Bap, Looks cool, if you have the "TBD sleeve" would the 3rd chamber be necessary? With the goal being isolation of the coil from vapor chamber, I think that could be achieved with a simple sleeve. If I had a lathe I'd definitley give it a shot though. Jp, I might have missed it in an earlier...

    The Pyrex SS hybrid Wick

I agree that any added sleeve will absorb energy from the coil, but this is energy that would otherwise be released at a higher rate into the vapor chamber by free airflow. Just trying to think of a source able solution w/o intensive modification. A lot of this thread has been speculation and...
