    Cold maceration of tobacco

No comprehensive source of info that I have found. Trial and error, a little imagination, common sense, and dumb luck all come into play. I let gravity do the work of passing extract through the filter so no significant pressure is ever developed. Paper lab filter paper works best for me...

    Cold maceration of tobacco

Asked and answered previously. You keep stating that filtration below the level that you use is cumbersome, time consuming, and not practical for home extraction. Obviously some are finding it improves performance and/or flavor enough to be worthwhile. Pleat a 15 cm round lab filter, put it...

    Cold maceration of tobacco

Filtered three pipe blend extractions, then started two cigars and a pipe blend tonight. Did 90% of it during commercials while watching the Nationwide race! I love letting gravity do the work.:2cool:

    Cold maceration of tobacco

I have contemplated trying filtration below 2.5 microns but have been getting good enough performance that I haven't gotten motivated yet. When I was considering the 2.5 micron filters, most said it wouldn't work, wouldn't flow through without a vacuum, and flavor would suffer. I guess we've...

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

Just cleaned and rebuilt five RDAs. 26 g Nichrome and 28 g Kanthal, various resistance, all wicked with KGD. Fresh coils rock the flavor!:D Fired up Missouri Meerschaum Country Gentleman which has become one of my new favorites. Filtered to 2.5 microns, it is running clean and kicking out...

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

I'm with you Bill! It seems some guys "lung hit" and "cloud chase" just to be cool. I smoked 36 years and they can keep it.

    Cold maceration of tobacco

Bill, Wiki (a dubious source of info IMO) says particulates below 40 microns are not visible. This does make some sense though because after one filtering with a coffee filter there are generally no visible bits but we know from experience that they are there. ETA: Finely filtered extract is...

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

Perfect and practical don't play together well! Perfection (pursuit of) can severely limit your enjoyment! I bet I rate beers and broads higher than you do also.

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

I guess I've found more juices to my liking Dusty. I think our esteemed A tier vendors produce many 5 star offerings. I've also been lucky enough to try several home extractions that I feel achieve that status. To me, 5 star means the flavor is exactly what it claims to be (whether I prefer it...

    Cold maceration of tobacco

Welcome usr/! Tobacco shops smell wonderful to me also. Your chessecloth filtration will leave you with a lot of particulates in my estimation. I normally strain extracts and filter right away but know of no reason why you couldn't filter later also. I use 15 cm round, qualitative lab filter...

Slow Cooker Extraction of Tobacco and Tea

None I can detect. I've done seven pipe blends and five cigars using the 2.5 micron media and they are comparable to my previous extracts in flavor intensity.

Dual coils are definitely an adjustment! You might try raising your resistance at least until you get it figured out. Hope you get it to work for you but if not, hit me up.

Had the opportunity today to meet checkum and has wife today. They were supervising a bar-b-que competition in a nearby town so I drove up. Great folks! I hope to make it to their next bbq judge training and certification and join the St. Louis Bar-b-que Society. Checkum, I look forward to...

Evil, how is the flavor on the Odin? Can you close down the air so you're not trying to inhale an elephant? Congrats on one year man!

Pretty big jump from 2 Ohm 510 atties! It really does come down to finding what works and keeps you happy. I'm just happy as hell to have not smoked in almost 2 years don't feel the need to do a lot of equipment experimentation anymore! New tobaccos are another story.

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

Why not jump on the bandwagon? Even our buddy Super X has become a lung hitting cloud chaser! I've got to admit I love dual coils in a Phoenix V5 with air control, but the air holes are just about right for me (relatively small) and I run it wide open with great flavor production. No lung...
