Kayfun Lite, First Build... Wheres the flavor?

I love using cotton and microcoils in drippers, but with my Kayfun 3.1 and Russian 91%, I actually prefer to use a more traditional coil. In both I've got 2mm silica doubled up, with 3/4 wraps of 30g Kanthal, which comes out to about 1.0 Ohm... and it's one of the best vapes ever, rivaling my...

My Wife Wants a Pink Mech...

If you're willing to venture to the high end side of mechs, VHO makes a pink Titan. The USA site is down for maintenance, but here's the original site: Titan the Pink Panther - VapeHead Origins

    Electric Angel Rebuild

I had an EA Mod for quite a while, and I found it to be finicky. Go pick up some Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish, and polish up all the brass (top pin, bottom pin, and the button). Don't worry that the bottom pin is loose, it will be held in place when the whole mod is tightened down. You can...

"Clones" are actually the REAL THING

I just gotta say, the stolen image argument doesn't hold much water... that's like saying an unauthorized poster (or just the image printed on whatever: watch, hat, t-shirt, you pick) of Dali's "Persistence of Memory" (the melting clocks) is equivalent to a counterfeit painting of the original...

"Clones" are actually the REAL THING

I really don't have much of a problem with the "inspired by" mods. My first (and favorite) mod was an aluminum Galileo. When I saw Sigelei #9, which is the Galileo design but made in stainless steel (with a built in 510), I thought it was awesome. I now own an authentic stainless Galileo (and I...

    Contact plating

Don't do that... then you'll actually mess up your center pin. The silver has to be electroplated onto the brass (and the rhodium electroplated onto the silver). While this can be done at home if you have the right ingredients and equipment, it's probably more complicated than it's worth at the...

    Contact plating

Plating won't mess up the threads... you're really only adding some microns of each metal. The only thing I can recommend (unless your guy is going to do it for you) is to polish the brass up right before it's plated. Not only will the plating stick better, but it should help with conductivity.

"Clones" are actually the REAL THING

I was referring to this statement: I'm not concerned with what people think about me, I care about respect for the brains behind what their clone is cloning. By saying the clone is just as good implies the real deal is worthless, so why buy it? If you're going to buy a clone regardless of the...

"Clones" are actually the REAL THING

Oh, but you are. By previously stating that a Nemesis copy has faked the status of the real one, you're saying that your $30 china counterfeit has the same (superficial) status as an authentic $200 original. I think if someone spends $200 on a Nemesis, they have a right to be proud of their...

"Clones" are actually the REAL THING

Does anyone remember Gus Van Sant's 1998 remake of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho? Not only was it a remake, it was nearly a frame by frame copy of the original, just with different people. And you know what happened? It failed miserably, as it should have. In fact, I would call that plagiarism. And...

"Clones" are actually the REAL THING

Oh relax, it was a metaphor. I was comparing intentions, not situations. If you love a design, understand that design came from somebody's brain, whether or not you're willing to pay what they ask. When you buy an original, you're buying a piece of the maker's brain, along with some of their...

"Clones" are actually the REAL THING

I agree with this. Since when did it become a mod maker's fault that we buy clones? Sure, you can blame the mod makers for driving you to a clone, but that's the same as saying your spouse drove you to cheating. It's still immoral regardless of your reason. If I like a specific design, I want...

KTS+ Mech mod, threads I'm the head not working anymore.

It sounds like you stripped the threads. Usually a 510-510 adapter can solve this issue, at least for a while. SmokTech makes a tank airflow control that would work the same way, and it would look less awkward than an adapter. Tank Airflow Controller

Creating a Patina on Brass mods?

I'll chime in and say that there are rumors out there (mostly among gun enthusiasts, but I think it's a valid concern) that ammonia weakens brass and can contribute to cracks and breaks. The thought is that ammonia dissolves the copper in a brass alloy. Chemically, ammonia does dissolve copper...

    Magnets vs. Springs

Which is... most mods? You have to connect the body of the mod to the switch somehow.

    Helios RDA

No, the center post is press fit in (and I wouldn't recommend trying to raise/lower it). Why? What're you trying to do?

    Re-wicking a micro coil

I never thought about water in the posts! I usually dry mine pretty well, and even do a quick fire after rinsing to make sure the coils are dry. If it happens again, I'll give it a bit more time. Thank you all! At least I know I'm not crazy..... yet.

    Re-wicking a micro coil

Cotton balls... stretched out and rolled fairly tight. The bizarre thing is, a freshly built coil doesn't do this. It's only after I rewick it one or sometimes two times.

    Re-wicking a micro coil

Hey guys, So I've been using micros and cotton wicks for a little while now (6 wraps of 28g for 0.9-1 ohm), and it's working really well in my Hornet. However, whenever I rewick the coil (remove old wick, dry burn, rinse, dry and rewick) I tend to get a weird metallic taste. This doesn't happen...
