    Hmm.. I had odd smells with bamboo; not so much with hemp. I boiled it 3 times 15 minutes each. It has a slight earthy taste, but it quickly dissipates. I can't say it disappears completely. Also some flavors don't mix well at all with certain materials (Like bamboo and peppermint/menthol)...

    I made a spacer/washer and put it between the nut and the o-ring, so no, I haven't tried two o-rings since they could slip out of alignment easier (just my opinion). I'm not implying it wouldn't work, I just prefer a solid spacer with a single o-ring :)
