Just taking some time to clean up and repair some gear while I wait for some new toys from Ian.
I've just about had enough of my loose doors on my Woodvils (not Robs fault, my crappy modding...) I was using this 30 degree dovetail and well, it just sucks. So I picked up a 60 degree endmill...
I think this method gives you about as hard a hit as a mech can provide, the only way I can think to get anymore direct drive would be to either mill a top plate/RDA body out of one piece of stock (which is beyond my current skill level) or, and I have considered this, tear down the Derringer...
.2 in that bad boy?...I trust you ran that past your risk management dept.? ;)
I wouldn't bother with the wood grain vinyl...nothing wrong with the way it is imo.
Of course...keep in mind though, you have to make your own extended center pin. I started out by using Naval brass screws and venting them then I got the lathe and things got a bit more refined. This is not really the best system if you're an RDA swapper (unless you make all your RDA's hybrids)...
Some of you may have noticed lately that the price of some "authentic" RDA's have come way down in the last while and the availability has gotten a lot better...repeat "some"
I'm not going to pro-con the whole quality vs. cost vs. morality of the clone industry as that's been done to death, I...
The 2nd reason why you mix twice as much acrylic than you need...it gives you something to poke with your finger (other than your work) to see if it's cured :D
<<whistle>> that's some coin...curious though, how do they do it?, is it some type of printed material then it's plated or do they just take your file and instead of the printer, send it off to some guy at a cnc?
forgive my ignorance, I've looked around at some 3D print sites and they seem a...
Nice Turbo...so many times I've wanted to do that to my DNA Zebra...thing is, it's working perfect (for months and months...and months???, wth Evolv, you making a liar out of me?), but you know as soon as I pour acrylic something will pooch. The thing with small batch acrylic is you almost have...
My neighbour has a metal detector I can borrow next weekend but I'm fairly confident I'll find it (the back yard is only 60'x100' so "back 40" may have been an exaggeration, it just seemed big :D), my plan is to let the weeds and nettle I hacked down dry this week then rake it...hopefully it...
...the real talent lies in whether you can make a $200 Reo vape like that POS...I for one could totally rock that.
I'm on a biorhythmic triple low this weekend regarding mods...lost one of my woodies weed wacking the back 40 on Sat. (also gave myself mild heatstroke in the process)
Cracked the...
Roscoe a little grumpy today?

You buy this POS for 22 bucks you don't like it no big loss"
Probably safe to assume if someone is new to bf'ing they haven't built a Hammond squonker...
...there is that...tough to argue with that logic.
I just thought that as this is pretty much a modding thread, by the time you put the effort into getting that thing up to a reasonable performance, spend half that and build a decent Hammond in the same amount of time.
My only thoughts on that device, actually my thoughts on most clones out of China...why do they insist on going so far to the opposite side of the spectrum as far as quality goes?
It was only a matter of time before the Grand was "sort of" cloned bit why shoot for some $25 price point? Why not...
My M3 is a spiraled plug, not that it made much difference with the copper, may as well try and thread a piece of snot, glad I'm not a big coil changer, stripping that copper center pin is not a question of "if" but "when"...I've gotta chuck that silver tube one of these days, I just want to get...
I've found the lathe to be awesome for tapping center posts (though I haven't done an M2 yet). After I've drilled it, I chuck the tap in the tail stock and slide it up to the center pin leaving it unlocked. And while applying 2 fingers worth of pressure (or about 10 shekles) I hand turn the...
Had to pay Wa. state tax but saved a ton by not having to ship it...Grizzly's Bellingham corp. location is a 45 min. drive from my "cabin in the woods" in Maple Falls...I'm undecided as to whether that's a good thing or not ...my wife is certain it's not a good thing.
The Grizz comes with an MT3 1/2" chuck...I never thought I'd use it because of tool wobble but tbh...is an awesome chuck (or I just got a good one?). I was all set to pick up a quick collet set (still may) but even those have questionable accuracy...unless I'm doing something heavy or I'm using...
Another reason it may not flame polish is it could be polycarbonate (Lexan)...polycarb doesn't flame polish, eventually it'll just get hot enough where it blisters and that's it
Funny you mention the blemishes you only notice in pics...same thing was going on with me and the resin mod...very...
