Just taking some time to clean up and repair some gear while I wait for some new toys from Ian.

I've just about had enough of my loose doors on my Woodvils (not Robs fault, my crappy modding...) I was using this 30 degree dovetail and well, it just sucks. So I picked up a 60 degree endmill dove. Much better when it comes to stopping lift, but it does get a little scary undermining the edges.

I'm running out of material to mod, as it is I had to sink the batt/bottle 1mm to get the door to slide on but...new tight door, fresh coat of tung and lovin' my zebra again.

I have been working on this one for a while and finally last night got it functioning. Will work on making it pretty after making sure it is performing the way I like. Hits really hard as all parts except the 510 are brass and copper.

Yep. I am still kinda working on a more elegant solution to the firing button but I like the location. I was looking to do something different than the top fire button for a change. [emoji16]

ETA : Your skeleton mod inspired me to build this one[emoji6]

Tell me about it...but with work I live out of a laptop bag and there's this pocket that perfectly holds 3 dibi/reo type mods...I do have some side buttons but they have to be recessed...I miss my old GG style pinky button sometimes.

With that you can fire and squonk at the same time...that's some efficient vaping :D

I have a locking mechanism planned for underneath the bottle but haven't built it yet. Definitely not a pocket mod until I get that finished! Right now I am just raising the top cap to disconnect the battery when pocketing. This is intended as a functional art mod to sit on my desk honestly. It will be decked out with all manners of Steampunk gawdyness[emoji1]

first time I can post an image here!!! been lurking forever!
really small squonker, fully mechanical 10ml capacity!
now I need to make a better button and then I'll wrap it on a 3m wood vinyl (once I find them on one of my drawers)
here is a size comparison
vaping at .2 ohms it works amazingly well and it is really compact considering it is a bottomfeeder

I miss my battery box squonker. So, damn easy to carry. The hinge will need some reinforcement. Your build looks very clean, great work.

Here is how I eliminated the 510 on this 26650 bottom feeder: I TIG welded a 6-32 vented screw directly to the positive pin of the atty, which is from the "Magma Nano" mentioned earlier. It features a stainless adapter with 7mm inside threads and 3/8-24 outside threads to bite into the aluminum case securely.

Up top, it has a beryllium copper/silver leaf, and the battery grounds with a brass strip screwed into the case with 4-40 stainless screws. I used UHMW plastic to keep the copper leaf lined up and as an elastic spring for battery tension.

The box is only .060" wider than the battery, so I suppose this is as small as it can be. The hybrid connection saves a lot of space in the case. It's a handful, but with the obscene battery life, I gotta love it. Looks cool while charging like the others. :vapor: Thanks {again} to Quigs and all the rest in this thread for the inspiration. :)

Thanks a lot...now I need to buy a :censored: TIG welder (then learn how to use it)...my dad has one and do I ever suck at welding, I made a pair of custom saddle bag brackets for my bike...the dude at the plating shop just laughed when he saw them.

nice weld...did you have to re-vent it or did the alignment work out?

What I did was insert the 1/16" drill into both pieces and .... them together. This was fused {no filler} with just 40 amps of current {less than some use for their vaping } and I managed to not melt into the hole at all. Kind of tricky.

I am a veteran welder/fabricator/machinist that had all the equipment to do this before I started vaping. I have done many gunsmithing projects, so doing stuff like this is pure enjoyment in my spare time. :headbang:

Quigs that spalted door looks killer on the Zebra woodie. Did you keep the stock 510 and just flush it or did you fit an all new one?

I built the zebra from a blank Rob sold me, just the door was routed in and that's it, no holes.

I wanted to keep it Reo as possible so I did install one of his woodvil 510's then I just faced the catch cup off but I didn't want his switch...the flush button tact is great, though it maybe a little too flush, finding with my finger is a challenge.

Aside from the fact that I've been having some bad luck with doors on this thing this has been by far my most reliable DNA builds to date...how ever, the resin is proving just as trust worthy, even after the scare of the display panel soaked with juice.

knock on wood, maybe my DNA bad luck could have been just an anomaly...they're still for little girls though

You got rid of the wrap around the top?...Awww...it gave it that "post apocalyptic" edge...now you're just pandering to the neo-Victorians and their lily gilding :D

Jk ...that brass band must have been fun to make?...I tried once to make a cosmetic thin batt tube from brass shim material for my skeleton, nope, wasn't gonna happen

Yeah the wrap was too messy for my liking[emoji6] and yes it did lose some character in the process. I spent most of today cussing at that stupid brass band honestly.

Albeit I am quite fond of neo - Victorian guilding. I will add a bit more to push it over the top just a bit[emoji16]

it's setting up to hard but man is it ridiculously slow

I'm now doing a VV grand and I decided to do it much like I do the woods, with an insert for the buttons, I hate big deep switches and I wanted to preserve the black PC so this was the only way to use a smaller fire switch and maintain the black PC. here are a few under construction shots :)
