Where do you get your bottles

Yep, go right through the center tube. Looking down on it, it is the center of the bulls-eye. 16 gauge will be pretty tight. You might need to help it with one of those knitting needles, or a nail of the right size should work.

Where do you get your bottles

Kenna, that is very good that they send bulk flavors in glass! Flavors in plastic don't last as long, for sure. Found this out the hard way with some of my bulk flavors. They just fade away. Very stable in glass, even at room temperature. You never said the gauge of your needles. With my...

Where do you get your bottles

You got flavoring shipped to you in these Specialty Bottle eurodropper bottles? First I've ever heard of that. I have some of my bulk flavorings in them, but I put the flavoring in the bottle self. 14 gauge might be too big for the insert center hole. I think the thickest I use are 17 gauge...

Where do you get your bottles

I think they are 17 or 18 gauge blunt, but you have to force it through with the first insert. I sometimes use a book as a hammer to force it through center hole the first time. After that, they go in pretty easily.

Where do you get your bottles

FYI, glass bottles with glass droppers with rubber bulbs are probably not good for long-term storage. Rubber is quite porous to O2. Nic that I have had in the freezer in glass dropper bottles like this did oxidize significantly after a year. If you have good sealing caps for these while in...

    Nicotine Comparisons

Bill Godshall just posted this to FDA Regs forum: American Vaping Association: August 8, 2016 – What does it mean for vaping? Link to AVA statement about what today means is in his post. I suggest posting comments there about this, and keep this thread to nicotine comparisons. Very easy to...

    Nicotine Comparisons

Wow that is an OLD thread! So much I didn't know back then, pre-Box-Elder. Humbling actually. Yes there is some incorrect chemistry wording in the NN descriptions. Very incorrect in some cases. I have spoken with Jake at NN about this. Can't say much more, other than the solutions are...

FDA How do the FDA regulations affect DIY liquid?

Good God!! I hope you are kidding. Good luck dispensing from that beast. There may be a walk-in freezer in your future. Colored vs colorless glass: I think colorless or dark glass is fine either way. Visible light has little effect on nic. It is UV light that enhances oxidation, and...

FDA How do the FDA regulations affect DIY liquid?

98% of oxidation issues are solved simply by putting the nic in well-sealed glass, even at room temp. I mostly use 50 mL bottles for freezer storing, but I also use larger bottles for nic I know I won't get to for a long time. It takes me a few months to go through 50 mL, so smaller bottles...

    The Flavor Apprentice Flavoring Thread

I don't have lab analysis tests on whole-food extracts, but my education tells me they are not good for inhalation, for all the reasons you listed. Biomolecules not meant to be in the lungs, and probable thermal instability to decomposition on hot coils. I would think the same would be applied...

    The Flavor Apprentice Flavoring Thread

Never tried it with PG, since I try to avoid it. In principle it should work, and I'm guessing others have done this. Might get a bit more plant material than VG since it is a bit less polar, but that is just a hypothesis. Haven't made tobacco essence in a long time. I will say however...

    Nicotine Comparisons

Yes, about 1/2 way up where the bottle curves in to the mouth. This will protect against expansion with heat, or contraction with cold. The O2 in the headspace air is negligible. Even if it all reacts with nic it won't be more than a few mg of nic total. And the freezer will pretty much stop...

    Nicotine Comparisons

Not a bad idea. I will look into this. Not much of a blogger currently. I do tend to repeat things year after year as new people come on board.

    Nicotine Comparisons

Yes, I truly think this is the case. Oxidation and yellowing go hand-in-hand, since the oxides are strongly colored (red to brown). So if no yellowing compared to original is seen, no further oxidation has occurred. Visual analysis is probably the best metric we have without scientific...

    Nicotine Comparisons

No one knows. Put one in the freezer for a year and see what happens. Maybe it yellows. How much did it oxidize? You have to do a nic-oxide analysis, and this has not been done with long term storage that I know of (but I am starting to work on this). HDPE does not have plasticizers to...

    Nicotine Comparisons

@mhertz I don't know details about the chemnovatic clean up. He has told me their method is proprietary as well, and didn't actually see the process first hand. I strongly suspect it is an inert-gas distillation of the pure free-base. And I don't want to critique why Kevin would want to sell...

    Nicotine Comparisons

If RTS has not changed their nic in the price hike, then I think it has the most tobacco notes that I have found. Reminds me of some of the Virginia tobacco flavors I have tried. Pepper and TH are there, less than others I've tried, but certainly there. It is a sweeter nic than others, too...

    Nicotine Comparisons

For those wondering how VT TH is manufactured, I've been given permission from Kevin to describe the important points. TH is based on, I believe, conversations years ago he and I had over controlled oxidation and aging of nic to bring out character, for lack of a better word. My opinion was...

    How to store Nicotine?

If you decide to buy nic in bulk, I like these bottles with eurodropper inserts for syringe dispensing and spill-protection, plus the inserts act as a gasket similar to a polycone cap. Essential Oil Amber Dropper Bottles | Specialty Bottle Also available in blue and green glass. Prices are...

    Nicotine Comparisons

Then you may be interested in the glass bottles I use, since they have Euro dropper inserts, which allow syringe access, but prevent spills if the open bottle is knocked over. The inserts also act as a gasket for better sealing, similar to what a polycone cap does. For day to day dispensing I...
