    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

I have four NETs that are 100% Perique: two retail julces---RBFS St. James Parish, GeJ Natural Perique, and two of my compatriot's homemade Perique extracts---from johni and boomer. I've never ordered anything from N-E-T.com, so I don't have Clay's version and haven't tasted it. Of the four I...

The Really Big RY4 Roundup (long)

I feel the same way, Jerms. Just flip the two juices: For you ouR whY qu4tro is good, but GJ4 satisfies. For me, GJ4 is good, but ouR whY makes me happyhappy. I'm glad they both exist (and continue to be available---some day I'm going to start a thread about wonderful eliquids that have gone to...

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

Kat, I think you mis-read my post. I didn't even mention regulation, so please don't read it in. I wrote "politics and economics" as primary factors moving industries toward consolidation, with standardization as a contributing factor. You might interpret that as government regulation, but I...

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

Kat, Home extraction of natural tobacco using simple soak macerations is 100% easy, 0% impossible. Macerations are extremely forgiving of errors or lack of savvy. Read up on the basics, acquire the few items you'll need, get some tobacco, and jump in.

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

My particular eight bottles of RBFS juices don't seem to have changed much since I got them, at least to the extent that I can accurately remember how they tasted when they first arrived. Six of those were sent to me in February, the last two in June, so they've all had ample steeping time.

sand, We're all losing our marbles---the only questions being how fast and how much---but I'll bet your sense of taste is holding up just fine.

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

Cool! So there is a slight rum topping in Anniversary Kake. Turns out that Burley Kake is also topped subtly with cocoa, rum, and anise (I use Burley Kake as the base for my favorite DIY Custom RY4). I wish Oulette would include the topped flavorings in his on-site descriptions of Hearth&Home...

The Really Big RY4 Roundup (long)

Thanks, Sam. Nowadays, my job here on the thread is mostly just maintaining The Big RY4 List and posting the updated version every two months, doing the occasional review when a new RY4 shows up in my mailbox, and answering questions. Pretty low-key, all things considered.

    Nicotine Comparisons

XtremeVaping was the first vendor I from whom I ever bought liquid nic, way back in October, 2010, my very first month of vaping. I don't remember anything about the nic, but XTR nic has generally been praised on the thread for its purity, but criticized for its price (1 liter of 100mg/ml is...

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

Without intending to contradict either of you, where did you read that Anniversary Kake contains "Black Cav with rum flavoring" and "rum casing"? Personally, I don't taste any rum in my extract of Anniversary Kake. Maybe that's just my taster being sub-par, but the "official" description from...

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

johni, That's exactly how I felt when I started The Really Big RY4 Roundup thread. I thought it would vanish to the back pages after a day or two. Little did I know... Now it's three years later with 5500 posts and 165 RY4s reviewed, categorized, and graded. Even though I've mostly stopped...

Slow Cooker Extraction of Tobacco and Tea

boomer, papabogart reported in the Cold Maceration thread that the Aeropress wouldn't work (presumably for him) without "extensive modification." I've read that same opinion in other posts not on ECF. Obviously, you're not encountering any issues. This leads me to four questions: 1. Did you...

    Nicotine Comparisons

Jimi, Have you tried VT's "gamey" nic? It's very slightly colored and isn't quite as smooth as VT regular, but I was surprised to find (in informal comparisons) that it seems to me very close to VT regular nic in not masking or altering flavors. Regular VT still wins the blue ribbon for...

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

In 1920, more than 100 companies manufactured and marketed automobiles in America. By 1929, that number had fallen to 44. Now we have 3. This is what happens in growth industries based on new technologies with potentially large markets. Initially, one or two companies kick off a new industry...

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

Rather than remove Ahlusion from the A-List Vendors, I vote to change the descriptive comment. That comment currently reads: "the 800 lb. gorilla of in-house NETs; cutting-edge extraction methods" Clearly, Ahlusion's recent change of strategy has invalidated that statement. How about this...

Slow Cooker Extraction of Tobacco and Tea

All the various strategies seem to work well: Cold process (room-temp) long-steep (2 weeks to 2 months) macerations, heat-assisted (120° to 170° F) short-steep (12 hours to 5 days) macerations, and heat-assisted followed by longer room-temp steep macerations. Despite admonitions to the contrary...

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

Thanks. That makes sense. I've never macerated any tobacco with 100% PG as the solvent. All my macerations have used varying ratios of PG/VG, so that extra thickness in viscosity from the VG was probably a factor in causing the syringe filters to clog up tight from the get-go.

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

I agree. This whole kerfuffle with Ahlusion and what kind of tobacco flavorings they used/are using/will use in their retail juice lines has me scratching my head, not so much in disbelief, but with confusion that is quite aggravating. I don't know what to make of any of it, including the...
