Drilling air holes in SS
You are drilling at way too fast of a speed. I believe the 2 speed Dremel low speed is at 5000 rpm. The trick to drilling any type of harder metals is to use low speed with slight pressure. You will just burn out drill bits or hurt yourself. A cordless drill at low speed (at few hundred rpms)...- Paul.K

Usually dry hits is a wicking issue. How you lay down the wick on the deck makes a huge difference. Not enough down there will yield dry hits. Also keep the wick near the little channel hole and away from the inside part of the deck. -

Hmmm I did the exact same build on my 3.1 today except cotton. I noticed that I like 2mm id better than 1.5mm. Seems to wick better for me. Plus I can actually see to pull the wick through. I thought I needed a higher power magnifying glass. :vapor:
