the main difference between the reo and the kayfun, except for the form factor of course, it that the kayfun is designed to auto feed the coil with fluid in use, much like the majority of delivery systems out there attempt to do with varying degrees of success, where the reo doesn't make any attempt at auto feeding the coil at all, it instead allows you to manually fully saturate the coil for each hit like a dripper, but instead of dripping you squeeze the bottle to feed and when you release it sucks back the excess. the reo's are highly regarded because, although there is nothing automatic about it, it does allow you to manually get the right delivery for each hit which is rarely the case with most auto feed designs

out of all the various types of auto delivery systems out there, the biggest problems with them can be boiled down to 3 main things:

1) under delivery of fluid (dry hits, burnt taste)
2) over delivery of fluid (flooding and bad vape)
3) leaking of fluid (#2 can also cause this too)

the kayfun type auto delivery method is well regarded and highly praised as one of the best auto delivery methods out there, and as long as it's wicked properly it does for the most part deliver on it's promise of being a very good auto delivery system, but there is a fine line between too much fluid delivery and not enough fluid delivery and this is where the tinkering and trial and error part comes into play. once you get your wicking and your draw and your power level right it can give a really great vape but it does help to understand how these variables affect the delivery and by understanding you can then adjust/compensate if you wind up with too dry hits or excess flooding. the kayfun is not foolproof but it is also well designed in that it normally can achieve really great results if you simply build it as intended in most cases and also realize that your draw is what is causing the tank to surge up and feed the wick. it is not as idiot proof as a reo can be but it is also not rocket science, and the potential for setting it up to give a really good auto feeding vape is very high as long as you have a little patience and desire

I have both, along with many other types of delivery method devices too and personally I usually carry just a reo and a kayfun when I'm out and about. they are different but they can both be very good

auto feed VS manual feed. that's the main difference

Thank you! Very informative! Was about to pull the trigger last night at vaperev and waited til today.... They're sold out now.

I guess I'm next to need some help. I've watched vapdivrr's videos as well as a few others. I've tried 7 and 8 wraps of 28 awg micro coils with cotton. I've tried 7 wraps of ribbon cable on silica with the figure 8. With all of them I have the same issue. I get dry hits and not much vapor. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm thinking maybe i wrapped the coil too tight on the silica and maybe I need to use a thinner piece of cotton with the micro coil. I am trying really hard to like the kayfun, but I may have to stick to drippers and gennies.

That was it thanks! I had it down around the chimney's next like an idiot. Boy you get one hell of hit of nicotine from this, wow, I'm light headed lol. I'm not getting the crazy clouds of vapor though. Good vapor but nothing much different from a fresh dual coil carto.

You may find the vapor increases as the wick breaks in a little. I'm so happy you got it going. I know your pain of being so frustrated with something you'd just like to toss it across the room. I did find when going from my carto tanks to rebuildables that I had to reduce my nic level in my juices.

Someone please help userml1653. I'm working with Lord and want to get him going. I always thought it best if new users get one on one attention in PM so they are not inundated with 3,000 different ways of doing the same thing.

Usually dry hits is a wicking issue. How you lay down the wick on the deck makes a huge difference. Not enough down there will yield dry hits. Also keep the wick near the little channel hole and away from the inside part of the deck.

What do you mean when you say center part of the deck. I tried to position the cotton like vapdivrr. Mine may have been to thick and it is over the channels.

over the channels is not necessarily a bad thing as long as theres not so much wick that it seals the channels, I wick over the channels regularly, you just don't want so much wick that the channels don't "see vacuum" from your draw, so you don't want it packed in there, but right at the channels is fine

I'm going to re-do my wicks tonight. I think I'm over-wicking.... never had even a drop of leaking on my original builds but on both have a little (very very small) leaks and I did them exactly the same. a) Might have a little too much Nextel b) Didn't remember to move them over to the juice channel before putting on chimney.

Now let me just way....they are vaping great and I haven't done anything except wipe a couple of drops off at the end of the day so I've got to be close;)

you can check with intaste.de I always buy from them, save the VATS tax and get it in like 3 days from germany, they do sell out sometimes but usually restock pretty often, good people to deal with imho

I bought from Vaperev yesterday because Intaste have been out of stock since last week.

Marija at Intaste emailed me and said they are expecting new stock first week of November.

make sure your wick is down against the bottom of the deck, right on top of the juice inlets. If there is nothing there to sop up the juice as it's sucked into the chamber... your coil is going to be dry. I had this issue for a long time (and now I don't LOL)

If your setup looks like the pic below... you're going to get dry hits... see how the wicks are right along the inside wall of the deck and not in contact with the juice inlets? Nothing is there to wick the juice up into the chamber. It's like someone's knocking at the door but no one answers it so the person knocking goes away. That pic above is deceiving.. it shows the wick tails right along the inside wall of the deck. Don't be afraid to get some wick down there to be there as the juice is pulled up the channels.

If you're using a micro with cotton... have some resistance when you pull that cotton through the coil. If it slides through easily, it may not fill the coil. you want that wick to completely fill that coil. see how the wick below doesn't really completely fill the coil? It's on the wimpy side. I got dry hits with this setup and have kept this picture around to show what I did that didn't work for me. The only way I could get this setup (below) to work was to cover the air hole and do a dry pull to manually pull juice up into the chamber and to the wick. That got old real quick.

I know this isn't kayfun related but I'm so excited! I am off work (vacation) for the next 9 days!! My son and I are taking our camper to Asheville next week. We'll be camping beside the French Broad river. My daughter goes to the university there and we'll get to spend time with her. I put my Fogger V2 up for sale (I like it but I like the kfl much better) and the person who wants it just happens to be going to Asheville next week too.. so if he/she's serious about buying it, we'll meet up there (I get to meet another vaper)

I've finally decided to put one of my beloved provari's up for trade for a Reo Grand. I had a VV woodvil when they first came out but I didn't like the smell of the varnish on the wood so I sold it. So I'm also excited about the possibility of trying out a Reo with a RM2 (micro/cotton)

I don't really have any other vaping enthusiasts in my 3-D world to share my vape related news with so you guys are it LOL
To keep on topic... my kfl's are going camping with me

Hey, be careful and remember locking the switches, lest you burn your hands (again)!

LOL.. I can't believe you remember me doing that. Yea.. two trips to Asheville in a row (or was it three?).. didn't lock my mech and it went off in my purse, burning my finger the first time and my hand the second time. I'll never forget riding down the road and smelling something burning and thinking "what is that smell!?"

Don't ya just hate it when that happens.... I did that the other day, set my mod down when customers walked in and came back to one hot mod

Just wanted to give you guys all a HUGE THANK YOU! I sincerely appreciate you helping me and dealing with my frustrations earlier.

I'm vaping away on this blue LED bad boy, but his new green LED baby brother got jealous so I thought I'd share a photo.

Once I saw Bronze's video of the guy's method of pre-coiling on a syringe (or something else), I built a 10 wrap micro coil on my first try ever building a coil like this. I built a few on the zap but those don't really count.

The other thing that probably made this a lot harder was that I couldn't get my outer casing (or stack) off. It's the one that screw onto the deck. I was able to get the inside stack out, but I'll have to try using pliers and a towel when I'm out of juice.

For noobs to RBA's (like me), I would definitely point them to that video Bronze linked and not the girl (she using a regular Kayfun with silica). A micro coil is not hard at all if you use a 16g syringe, since it has the base you can take advantage of to keep it tight. I would just tell them that if they're using silica, to cut it shorter so it just hits the deck. If you try to get into the grooves like he does with the cotton but keep it 1/4-1/3" above the inner stack (like the girl), you won't be able to screw on the inner stack cleanly. I guess having one good video for silica on an actual KFL would be the best teaching tool. Unfortunately on my first run at this, I followed the girl's advice before having a chance to see Bronze's PMs - so my wick ends are a little longer than what's optimal. It's still kicking ... though - better than it was at first.

Bronze I crown you The Man...you're the best. I hope I can help someone down the road like you helped me.
