@musicman21 I don't have a Rose but I do have a Merkava. The Merkava is a very nice flavorful atty, it has easy top fill and deck access without draining the tank, I'm very happy with it. Another one you may want to look at is the Phenomenon by GUS, again a wonderful flavor atty and my current...
When I said surprisingly easy it was in comparison the the horizontal build, as for your question I honestly don't think so but with repetition comes speed so perhaps with time maybe..... here's a video of someone doing a timed build:
So been playing around with it some more and whilst the horizontal build has me beat...for now, the vertical build is surprisingly easy though still not a fan of having to wrap a new coil every time I need to change out the cotton.
It must be something they've added, not sure why. If you look at the picture gallery on the product page the first close ups of the deck don't have the O ring however the last 3 pics, with the new deck, do have the O ring. Perhaps it's better with the new deck? Those of us with the original deck...
If it's meant to be there I think it's a revision to the original release, if you look at both of these videos when you see them build the deck doesn't have the O ring.
I agree, I prefer the flat deck.

We have changed the deck in the Merkava for easier set up, so now it's more friendly for beginners.
We added a special bridge for the cotton, so the cotton should be placed between the chamber and the bridge"
The one with the Red circles etc is the new one. It seems that the only reason they did it was to make it "friendly for beginners". So no performance benefit. I haven't found the Merkava to be difficult to build or wick so I don't really know why they did it......
Soooo the Red bits are, I assume, the bridge. The Blue square part is also a lil different in that it hasn't been milled out so now stands up from the deck.
New deck

The Wave is proving to be a frustration, tried a horizontal build again last night, thought I had the leads good and tight I even used pliers to pull them tight but I was still getting erratic resistance readings, I have to be doing something wrong, surely it can't be this finicky and difficult...
I hope all these peeps that are so concerned about a mod they've never used are being equally vocal and active with advocacy and calling and emailing state officials etc....
I spent an hour fighting with a horizontal build on the Wave last night and failed. ....couldn't get the resistance to stop jumping around. Those castle turret things make it hard to get a solid connection, at least I found it hard. I eventually got a somewhat built coil and then the thing...
