    Rebuilding Protanks

    I started out rebuilding them the same way with 4 pieces of 1mm silica. Then I went to 2 pieces of 2mm and finally settled on 1 piece of 2mm silica. It was all trial and error till I found what I liked best. I think it's interesting to see how everyone does it differently and gets different results.

    I use 32g Kanthal at 5 wraps on 2mm silica with a piece of 1mm silica on top. This gives me about 2.4ohms.

    How to make 2 ohm resistance coils

    32 awg Kanthal 5 wraps should give you around 2.4ohms. Thats what I get anyway when I make my Protank coils.

    I did it with mesh a few weeks ago and was told "no picks or it didn't happen" so yeah I never posted anything else about it. It works pretty good in my opinion.

    You should consider it. Think of it like this.... Protank replacement coil - $2.60 (approximation) Protank rebuils - $0.25 (approximation) The savings are there if you are willing to do a little bit of work. Takes me only a couple minutes to rebuild a Protank head.

    I guess I've been lucky. Been vaping the Protank for a month now and not had one issue with the threads. I tend to drop my pv at least twice daily. Usually it falls off the desk after I knock into it. As far as replacement bottoms only place I've seen them is DV.
