    VG seems to "absorb" the flavor over a few days

    Most pass thru have thin cheap wire and eventually you get a short in it and it needs replaced. There are many ways to make your own with a higher gauge wire. also the Kensington is durable, I've dropped mine countless times and it keeps on ticking.

    Correct spot on! but I recently salvaged some 18650's from a Sony laptop and noticed no circuitry for protection, older battery packs from compaq laptops have the protection circuits as a part of the battery pack. Is it possible new laptops are using 18650's with the built in protection circuit?
