    I have found those little black box meters to be just as accurate as my more expensive multimeters, maybe a little more due to they don't have the test leads which can add tiny amounts of resistance. Regardless of which kind of meter you get always get a base reading by shorting the leads...

    It sounds like you maybe using a bit too much cotton in your wick, I would also recommend torching your kanthal before wrapping your coil to get rid of any machine oil. Also from what I'm reading you have your iStick set at 3.3, which is low for a 1.4 ohm coil. Edit: Try using 30 or 32 gauge...

    The mech should be fine, I would not use the battery anymore though, not worth the risk. I'm not familier with that RDA so I'm not help with what could have caused the short, maybe someone else will chime in on that part.

    I have to admit I have never seen the insides of a vapor shark, however the boards have the same connections, only in different places, the DNA 40 has side tabs that once cut off makes the boards the same size. That being said, you must have connected the wires for the secondary control...

    Clean the threads as others have already said, DO NOT use silicon on the threads, silicon is an insulator not a conductor, use a conductive compound, I prefer Noalox, but others have there own preferences.

So all mech mods would be considered APV's. As for the OP: Alls mech mods with bottom venting can be dangerous under the right conditions...

    If you want safety and reliability and don't plan on sub-ohming I would stick with the provari, or a authentic dna based device like the Hana, vaporshark, or ZNA. I prefer the ZNA due to styling, I'm not into the box mod thing personally.

    No to both questions. If the switch is rated a 6 amps then the lowest you can run would be .7 ohms, however the KZ website says they use 5 amp switches, which would leave you at a safe resistance of .84 ohms. This is also providing any wiring used in the box is thick enough to handle the load.

    You need to adjust the centerpin in you ZNA's top cap, if you look into the 510 on the ZNA you'll see the adjustable center pin, just use a small flat screwdriver and unscrew it a bit and try your atomizer again.
