    Honestly? The only time I get dark juice is when I have done something wrong.... I have the wire a little too loose or a little too tight. I can see pinching the end if I have a fatty fat fat wick that's wicking so well I don't need to tip much. LOL I do tend to flatten the end just a bit...

    You are over-doing it. Your wick will get brittle, and crumble. Honestly, you only need to roll it up, and torch until red. One pass is usually enough, sometimes two.     Yeah.... you actually can do too much with the whole torch it to death. That's why I said you only need it to glow red all over once or twice. And, you can do that after it's rolled. If you torch it too much, it can crumble and break apart.

    What Andy said in the post above mine. Also... I think I read where you said your mesh was coming apart? Start over with a fresh piece of mesh. (and some 32g wire) Roll it up to the size you want. Use a torch or even your kitchen stove. Burn it red all the way across. Burn it red all the way...

    Ha! I'm afraid any manual I write would be full of "doo-hickey", "thingy", "whatsit" and crude hand drawn diagrams that look more like ill cats than what it's supposed to be. And possibly boobs anywhere I could fit them in. There's always room for boobs.

My point though, is it doesn't really matter what size your mesh is, if it's working for you. You would get more of a difference in the oxidation and size...
