    Confusion on voltage.

You said: What I am questioning is the "It’s not great for the batteries" part. How can it be worse for the battery to draw 40W on a 0.34ohm coil with 3.7V on a mech, compared to drawing 40W on a 0.9ohm coil with 6V on a regulated? They are both drawing about 11 Amperes and 3.7V from the...

    Confusion on voltage.

I would assume that any reasonable regulated mod would not pull power from a dead cell (i.e under 2.5V). If it does then throw it in the trash.

    Confusion on voltage.

So if you are running a 0.9 ohm coil at 6 volts on a regulated you are drawing more than 40w from the battery? Where does that extra energy go? To heat? I googled the joule thief term, and it seems it has been termed that way since it can be used to draw power from cells that in reality are...

    Confusion on voltage.

No it does not. It just pulls more amps from the battery than it normally would. If your battery can handle it it is all good. For example, if you vape a 18650 at 40 watts with a 0.9 ohm coil on a regulated, it will draw as many amps as it would vaping on a mech on a 0.34 ohm coil which works...

Technique I’ve been doing with regulated builds,

Why do maths when the mod does it for you? Just tweak the wattage until it feels right. The bigger and thicker the coil, the more wattage you'll need. It is as simple as that.

    Authentic Merlin MTL from Augvape

There is no jfc. And like all other top fill rta's with no jfc, wether or not it will leak when filling depends on how much wick you stuff in the channels. The way I wick mine it will leak as soon as I open the top cap, so I've resorted to bottom filling through the juice holes.

Hussar RTA single coil deck (attack of the clones)

Can someone tell me: Does the drip tip screw down on top of the micro tank?

    merlin 22, finally coming soon?

Yeah, some have reported success with top filling, although many has not. Among other things that would depend on juice viscosity, density of wicking, atmospheric pressure and room temperature. That is probably why the jury is out and will stay out. One thing is for sure, though, it is a crapshoot.

    merlin 22, finally coming soon?

I don't see how it would have juice flow control, so it is probably either bottom fill or flood-fill like the Berserker.

Vandy Vape BERSERKER (24mm) MTL RTA

I don't have the Berserker, but if the issue is an empty space under the drip tip where juice will condensate, what about trying the Kayfun Mini V3 drip tips? They have an even diameter, so they will go all the way to the bottom. Has solved a similar issue for me before. They've got them on...

    It worked!

As long as the coil glows evenly from the center to edges the shape and looks of it doesn't matter.

    Coppervape's Skyline Clone

Well, I just got back from the bike ride home from work, and one of the Skylines has leaked. With the friggin JFC closed. It hasn't leaked much though, probably just the juice in the chamber. I have tried all kinds of wicking methods, from those that gave me dry hits (too much cotton) to...

    Coppervape's Skyline Clone

Thanks! Finally someone who's on the same train of thought as me ;) Like you I don't think the red area has any noticeable effect. As for the air coming into the tank when opening JFC, I did this experiment, which I repeated 4-5 times: 1) Turn the tank upside down 2) Close JFC 3) Turn the tank...

    Coppervape's Skyline Clone

Interesting. Well, if I wick too tight I definetely get dry hits, so I don't think it should be any tighter than it is right now. I have one from CV and the other one from FT. The odds for both of them being faulty are pretty low. Personally I think that the design is faulty, but it works in...

    Coppervape's Skyline Clone

I am not quite buying that. I get flooding when opening JFC (not when closing) and it is pretty consistent. The reason I think is this: (If image not showing: Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet ) As you open the JFC the air between the inner chamber cap and the bell gets...

Maybe it is just me, but that much cotton stuffed in front of the juice holes would surely give me dry hits.

    Coppervape's Skyline Clone

@benley73 Thanks for your effort and thorough explanation. However, I do not think that it solves the problem that I am having. I had the hard to turn JFC on one of mine and that was easily solved by changing the o-ring as you suggest. The issue I am having is that the tank dumps juice into...

    Coppervape's Skyline Clone

Ok, so I have thought a little bit more about the issue I am having with this tank (flooding when opening JFC), and come up with a theory: As you open the JFC, air is being compressed in this area: The air is then forced into the juice reservoir, displacing juice into the chamber. Proposal...
