It is better to charge The Darwin slower, but it will NOT affect the overall battery life of the newest Opus D. The older Opus E would also be best charged with the older charger.- Drewsworld

Brandon has no stake in Opus (other than he is part of Evolv, the maker of the DNA 20) and the battery indicator is on the board. The little battery indicator will give you a live battery reading at all times, if you push the button while its on the charger.- Drewsworld

Sorry you had an issue. We do load test fire and vape EVERY Opus D twice before it reaches the consumer. Unfortunately we dont test every charger. We have sold well over 3000 of those chargers (exact same charger as The Darwin) and had only a few that were bad. The reason there is no indicator...- Drewsworld

The OpusD can be used while it is charging but its not a TRUE pass-through. So you are just interrupting the charge while using it when it is plugged in. I would not suggest charging any batteries in the car, including the Opus D...I know it works but depending on the charger, your cars...- Drewsworld

When the Opus was initially designed and released we decided to include a slower charger with it to preserve the batteries. Now we use a higher quality battery that fast charging wont affect. The chargers are provided charge at .5 amps. if one wanted to use a higher amperage charger it wouldn't...- Drewsworld
